General Trek Questions and Observations

Reminds me of a Tonight Show guest (Carson era): a little old lady who collected potato chips that formed recognizable shapes. As I recall, when she was looking away, Johnny (in one of his few moments of mildly sadistic humor) pulled an unremarkable chip out of a bag under his desk, and munched it. Thankfully, the guest didn't have a heart attack on the spot.

Here's the link if anyone's [Link deleted by mod.] (Mods not sure if im aloud to put in links please delete if in not) TY
I've removed the link, as I believe eBay links are crossing the line of potential solicitation, which is against board rules. Also, I'm merging this thread into our General Trek Questions and Observations thread, as it seems like a good candidate.

I've always thought that in the MU, Khan and his ilk would be the same as they were in the regular universe. I mean, the Terran Empire would let people like that basically run free. I wouldn't be surprised to find that augments like Khan were running the Empire...
Yes, I think if they appeared in the 24th century and appeared just as the rebellion took off, they'd go on to be founders of a 2nd Terran Empire. Alot of these Mirror types are a bit dodgy as well. Mirror Bashir for example.

Would Harry Kim and B'Elanna Torres have been at the academy around the same time as Wesley Crusher?

Is B'Elanna supposed to be a similar age to Harry then? I guess she could've been a late starter

Well, when the 2 of them were talking about her being in the academy (when they were trying to make their way out of the Ocampa tunnels), it didn't sound like he remembered her at all. At the time it made me think that she quit before he started.

Why should he remember her, Starfleet Academy does not look small. My secondary school had only 300 students and I don't recall all the names or faces.

Must be why B'Elanna thought Tom was expelled from the academy. His look-alike was. :)
I can't exactly pen down what class Tom was at the academy, but it was also during the 2360s, & judging by his age, probably the latter half of the 60s. So he certainly had to have been around the same time as Locarno, who's stretch went from about 66-69. I can't see Tom having graduated before 2366

Nice to see she still made lieutenant before Harry. Despite possibly dropping out of the academy and joining the Marquis

I just thought of something while reading another thread. Could the sense of individuality that Hugh took with him back to the collective have been the start of the Unimatrix Zero aberration. I know in Descent when Riker found Hugh, it was said that him and others like him were cut off from the collective. But what if just a little bit of that sense of individuality remained behind and certain drones were able to have this sense of self in their "dreams".

It was a genetic mutation in certain drones that let them be in Unimatrix Zero when they regenerated, right?

I didn't know where else to post this "That awkward moment when..." thing that just happened...

My boss is out for the week and I'm in charge of our department in the meantime... I got up from my desk to head to a meeting and let everyone know. My parting words were "Mr. Sulu, you have the conn." One staffer laughed politely and I got a blank stare from another... She said... "Ok.. I have NO idea what that means..." Everyone just kind of looked at her...

I guess not EVERYONE knows Trek... I was just surprised that a phrase that has been around 50 years might have been more well known.. Sigh.. SMH...

A youngster from my place thought the live long and prosper hand gesture originated from Big Bang Theory..
This hurts my heart and offends my soul. lol

I dressed up as Captain Kirk for Halloween this year. Just standard gold tunic, black pants, etc. And one kid called me "Star Trek Man." Fine. Whatever. But then another kid called me "Picard." PICARD!?!? Little twerp was lucky he didn't get a face full of Reese's peanut butter cups.

The sad thing is that this is a woman in her mid-30s. lol...

And when I mentioned my sadness that Greg Lake had died last week? Crickets.... Although, I can better understand that.. But still, it's not like ELP is THAT obscure...

Don't even get me started on how NO ONE in the states knows who Marillion is... sigh...

I'm going to go all nerdy here but I'm pretty sure the Defiant does have landing gear.
That might be like the TOS Enterprise had (supposed) landing gear, those triangle shapes on the underside of the saucer, so the ship could made a one time emergency landing on a planet.

So maybe the Defiant would be able to land ... once.
