General Trek Questions and Observations

Well she would have gone with Kirk and company back through the Guardian wouldn't she?
Is that how it works? I thought only those sent through the Guardian can return.
Well they never really established if he could bring back a plus one did they?
We're it possible, it would be an elegant solution to a tragic problem.
Maybe he could carry her over the threshold. (Not that threshold, mind you.)
Maybe that threshold too, eventually.

I was referring to the infamous VOY episode, of course.

Here's something I want to know - after McCoy went back in time, was it strictly necessary that Spock, McCoy, and Kirk be there to witness her death? As long as McCoy didn't save her, she supposedly would have been on that street at the right moment anyway, without Kirk to date. So I guess she went to the movies by herself that same night before McCoy messed up the timeline.

Perhaps before McCoy went back in time, instead of following Kirk and Spock, she'd crossed the street to come to the aid of the drunk which McCoy's phaser would kill - assuming his death/disappearance matters little to the timeline compared to Edith's (he may have drowned and disappeared or died and was buried anonymously with little notice otherwise).

The travelers could not return until history was corrected. The correct timeline was where Edith died. Therefore, Edith had to die or else no one was coming back.

SPOCK: I was recording images at the time McCoy left. A rather barbaric period in your American history. I believe I can approximate just when to jump. Perhaps within a month of the correct time. A week, if we're fortunate.
KIRK: Make sure we arrive before McCoy got there. It's vital we stop him before he does whatever it was that changed all history. Guardian, if we are successful
GUARDIAN: Then you will be returned. It will be as though none of you had gone.

They had to stop McCoy from saving Edith in order to return

As long as somebody stopped him, it needn't have been Kirk and Spock personally. Kirk says "we", but the important part is stopping him, not who does (as far as Kirk knows, anyway).

What do you think about my theory?

Well, it's not the same model, that I can tell from multiple examinations (Bridge dome height is taller in the original photo, U.S.S. Enterprise letting is bowed on the original model, multiple other indicators), but still a cool undertaking for sure.
It is the same model though. The original photo was how the model looked for "The Cage". It was then modified to the "series" version, but its definitely THE SAME MODEL. The second photo was probably taken not long after the model had been refurbished for exhibition.

Hey I like watching videos but is this one accurate? He says the original TOS Enterprise has no warp core

The term warp core originated with TNG. The idea seems to originate with TMP, but I don't recall the term used in that movie. Putting a warp core on the TOS Enterprise is a retcon.

Matt Jeffries concept was the nacelles were self contained. His idea originated from the WWII bombers where the power came from each turbine. The rotating red caps on the nacelles evoked the idea of rotating propellers.

The idea that those rotating red caps are bussard collectors is also a retcon.

Here is the scene from TOS "The Apple" that highlights the nacelles as a power source.

KIRK: I'm sick of hearing that word can't. Get that ship out of there.

[Bridge]

SCOTT: Sir, we're doing everything within engineering reason.

[Hut]

KIRK: Then use your imagination. Tie every ounce of power the ship has into the impulse engines. Discard the warp drive nacelles if you have to, and crack out of there with the main section, but get that ship out of there!

[Bridge]

SCOTT: Sir, I'm going to switch over everything but the life-support systems and boost the impulse power, but that's just about as dangerous.

Ok that's fair enough. Im wondering now the motive of such videos. It was interesting and all but I wonder if he was trying to retcon stuff that didn't need it.

The video also suggests that if we use the SNW engineering as a design guide, then the pipes face forward and are directly behind the main deflector dish...Is there any evidence of this in SNW?
