General Trek Questions and Observations

That photo doesn't show an NCC-1701-F registry, it shows a NCC 97074. The "Enterprise F"?
The artist substituted other registries and names because they wanted to personalize the ships, but implies it's a size comparison of the F and the B.

The ships in question are USS Olympic (97074) and USS Lakota, and it’s a screenshot from Star Trek Online. I was the one who took the screenshot for use with my fiction page, and it was exactly my intent to show the size comparison.

I just have to mention that that part in TNG when Q lets Data feel what it's like to laugh makes me tear up a bit every time I watch it. It's so wholesome and heartfelt.

I really like how Troi felt Data's emotion in that scene!

Man, that reminds me of years ago when Youtuber Admiral Grin (changed names sometimes when channels got deleted) had his long-running TNG re-cut vidoes where a number of times when something horrible happened to a crew member, he's use that scene of Data laughing. Oh, good times.

Here's a thought...

Full impulse power is about 1/3c.
So, one quarter impulse power is 1/12c.

So, in Star Trek III, the Enterprise actually smashed into the space doors at 25,000 kps. And if a few stray bits of protoplasm from the crew survived the impact and explosion, they were probably vaporized in the blast when the Excelsior smashed into the space doors behind them.

IMO, there's two possible explanations for that, one "out-of-universe" and one "in-universe":

1) It's a goof, the writer of that line didn't realise/think about the issue.
2) Impulse power is actually a measure of acceleration not speed, so the Enterprise didn't reach crazy speeds in the seconds/minutes that they were moving through the docks.

YMMV.

Wondering if things like Halloween are still done in the Star Trek universe, and imagining how wild it would be on Earth. Halloween on Earth would be wild with holographic decorations and advanced technology

EDIT: Were the Ferengi whip props too complicated to use again on the show because reddit shows me that as one of the reasons they abandoned the prop?
Whips do require an element of expertise to use effectively. That's one reason why Catwoman uses one: if a stronger opponent takes her weapon away from her, it's unlikely he'll be able to use it against her.

Even whip-swinging Indiana Jones hit himself the first time he tried to use one.

The phrase "first contact" appears in more episode/film titles than any other, I think.

* "First Contact"
* "Star Trek:First Contact"
* "First Con-tact"
* "First First Contact"

And the name Q in the most titles, 8 in all IIRC.

I think Data and Bashir tie for the silver with 2 each.
Data actually has 4... "Datalore", "Elementary, Dear Data", "Data's Day", and "A Fistful of Datas".

Spock also has 2... "SPOCK'S BRAIN" and "Spock Amok".

And if we include recurring characters, Harry Mudd has 3.
