I can't believe I never noticed this until now. I've seen Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home countless times but today when watching it in 4K (watched it in 4K like seven times already) I noticed this! When Spock was answering questions from the computer on Vulcan at the beginning, one of the images the computer shows is a pre-refit Constitution class ship from TOS!

 

She was.

Yep, if I was on the Enterprise D and needed advice I'd ask her if I couldn't get an audience with Picard. Or even Beverly. Deanna is nice but not interested in doing breathing exercises and listening to new age BS.

 

I think Dr. Pulaski might be one of my least favourite characters in Trek. They tried to replicate McCoy and failed miserably. Old news, I know. Just it's struck me with some of the rewatches how unpleasant she is.

 

William Shatner is on today's WTF with Marc Maron.

 

Bones could be a crank or seen as racist towards Spock. But DeForest made him charming and compassionate.

Just based on my vague memories of Pulaski. She just came off as curt and dehumanizing to Data.

 

Do you suppose that when a starship crew goes on shore leave, they still have them deposited... on a shore? You know, just like on principle?

Especially on a space station.

 

You know why they still call it a shore leave? 'Cause I asked my captain, "Sir, permission to go on leave?" and he said "Shore."

Why did the ensign ask his captain if he could go on shore leave after being told no several times previously?
He wanted to get a Risa out of him.

 

But it has to happen sometimes, right? & some of those times it could be because they just wanted the term to be accurate? I just want that to be true

 

I'm sure there is some captain out there as pedantic as I who prefers the accuracy.
