General thoughts on ENT?

I agree, the recording they used for the TV series didn't sound great, and the big theme sounds a bit rushed after the atmospheric intro. Did they rerecord it for the remaster?

Neither the "Fanfare" of TOS, or TMP's theme was lifted off of their respective soundtracks. The harp strum, or whatever that is that blends the two, in fact ... all of that was recorded at the same time. I don't have any links on it, I just know this because of extras and bonus features and whatnot. But the music was definitely recorded fresh for TNG, there's no doubt of it.

No, what I mean is: when they remastered TNG for blu-ray, did they rerecord the music as they did for the TOS remaster.

I've no idea. Let's hope not, though! Clean it up, if you must, but leave my show completely unspoiled!!!

Finally finished my little rewatch and I was sad to see it end. Well apart from TATV, which always makes me wonder why do I bother rewatching? :wtf:

I remember having some positive memories of S3 and S4 when I last watched a few years ago. This time through I really enjoyed them more I would say. S1 and S2 are still a bit lifeless with some good episodes throughout, and S3 was off to a slow start. The last third of the season though, the Xindi arc was pretty epic at times. And we'd already had Anomoly, Impulse, The Shipment, Twilight, Similitude, Proving Ground and Stratagem beforehand that I particularly enjoyed.

I think S3 was the best structured year, and was easily the darkest, which appeals to the DS9 lover in me. However the season would have been even better if it had dealt with something a bit more relevant to the ENT timeframe.

S4 toned the darkness down a bit and concentrated on trying to be a good prequel, which for the most part it did. I had to ignore the dumb Storm Front two parter that tried it's best to kill any story momentum that had built, but then it was pretty good aside from Daedelus, Bound and, like I said, These Are The Voyages.

I even enjoyed Affliction and Divergence this time around. Whilst i still think that the explanation of the Augment virus was unnecessary, the two episodes were pretty good viewing regardless.

The Vulcan trilogy and the mini-Federation story were the best episodes of me, and of course In a Mirror, Darkly was a lot of fun. I was a lot more into the Demons/Terra Prime arc than I was last time. I think Paxton wasn't an amazing villain, but the cast were utilised well for one last time for the true ENT finale. I also teared up at baby Elizabeth dying, which was so tragic.

It makes me wish it had another year. Back when it was cancelled, I was just kind of glad it wouldn't struggle on anymore as I'd stopped watching. Even when I saw it on DVD years later, I didn't think it was worthy of more attention. I don't know what's changed; maybe I'm just sad I finished my franchise rewatch?

See if DIS had been on time I'd be all ready to watch it in a few weeks, but never mind. :p

I watched "The Mirror Darkly" after reading it's praise at this forum. It was not a bad episode, but overall, this series does not feel like Star Trek. It feels very strange to see a pre-TOS star ship look more advanced than Kirk's.
I really dislike ENT's theme music too.

I love Enterprise. It was the first Star Trek series I watched from beginning to end live, and Trip Tucker is one of my favorite Trek characters. I thought the first two seasons were good, season three was very good, and season four was one of the best in all of Star Trek (though I don't care for the finale). The cast was exceptional. Scott Bakula's Jonathan Archer was a great captain, and I liked that he was flawed and grew throughout the series. My only regret is that the series did not go on longer.

While I wasn't fond of the ending, i did actually enjoy the show. it had one of my top 5 favorite trek characters, my favorite of this show being Phlox. preety much any episode that had him in the forefront was a good episode.

Enterprise on a lot of ways heralded what to expect from television in the 21st century. Shows now are either completely recycled ho hum plotlines or big mythology arcs

In it's first two seasons it tried re telling stories done before and done so much better on other treks. The writers thought the unique spin of this crew reacting to it first would somehow make it feel new which it didnt. It also didn't help that the plots were pretty routinuecwith nothing new or a new twist to them. I've repeatedly said there's nothing fundamentally bad about a tv series being episodic. It only becomes an issue when the stories themselves are tired or bland which was the case for enteeprise

Enterprise improved a great deal with the xindi arc. Although uneven it finally brought some mystery, awe and excitement back to the fold which the show desperately needed. It also finally brought the temporal Cold War front and center in a way it needed to be since the beginning to do the idea any justice. The show finally had an interesting alien adversary, suspense, urgency and scope with the story spanning various locations with various characters with different perspectives and agendas but it also spanned time.

Finally in season four the show became what most people wanted from the start- a show that focused on tying together various pieces from the larger Trek universe and filling in historical gaps. This season the characters were secondary or even tertiary to the larger unfolding events and recurring characters like Soval, shran, soong, the augments eclipses the regular cast in my opinion

Overall the series is a mixed bag and not entirely rewatchable beyond a smattering of standalones from the first two seasons, the episodes that featured the xindi arc directly and prominently and season 4

never liked it. bad concept, prequels make little sense in any genre.

not many standout eps either. this is part of what makes Trek great, and TOS, TNG, Voyager, DS9 all had these. very few eps that equate with this in Enterprise. It wasn't rubbish but not a standout.

And arguably more sexist than Voyager was. If Seven of Nine was eye candy, then T'Pol was more so. we even saw T'Pol naked (kind of...) never Seven of Nine. That said, I think many male actors were cast fro being good looking, it's Hollywood, people need to get over it.
