Isn't it worrying we haven't heard of a season 5 renewal by now..? They haven't even started filming, which means a season 5 release would be really far away at this point...

My presumption, at this point, is that there will be a hiatus of perhaps a year or more between Seasons 4 and 5, so they have time to air all these other shows they're making in the meantime. There's the Twitter evidence to consider that writing for the season has already begun. Plus, I don't for a second believe they wouldn't promote the hell out of a "final season" for their flagship Star Trek show. It's not a failure according to all known metrics, and if it was failing, that would be all the more reason to try to salvage viewership by promoting the final season and a series finale coming up.

A couple of things about season 4:

In each episode at the point that it seems the main story line is resolved and the episode is about to end I usually check the remaining time, and this season I have been consistently surprised to see still 5 to 10 minutes left. So it seems the writers are intentionally leaving time at the end of each episode for some character moments to reflect on what happened..

I really like the music played in the end credits this season. It is not the Discovery theme and I am not sure if it's the same music or changes each episode, but it is nice.

I do not believe they'd cancel Discovery by surprise, unless viewing figures made a sudden nosedive. Even if they did they'd probably give us a two hour finale.

This season reminds me of Silicon Avatar, only drawn out to a full season.

I thought of Who and wondered if they were going to wrap things up after a longer hiatus, they might opt for an abridged final season and do something akin to the 6-part Flux. Personally, I think their mystery box formula would work better spread across 6-8 episodes, rather than 13.

This the order I see it going for the live-action series:

Disco S4.5
Picard S2
SNW S1
Picard S3
Disco S5

I think we'll get both new seasons of Picard before the next season of Discovery only because they're already shooting PIC's third season. Plus I have an easier time believing PIC would be coming to an end due to Patrick Stewart's age than DSC ending. I'd like them both to continue for as long as possible, but I would completely understand if PIC wrapped after three seasons.

So after being forced to get Paramount plus for star trek I watched the first season of DISC and LET ME TELL YOU I FIND IT ABSOULTY...ok. Its just ok not the second coming of The Sisko or anything but not as bad as people made it out to be most episodes were juts kind of ok

With the way most internet discussions go, things are either the greatest thing ever or a personal slap in the face to the fans, and how dare you like the bad thing. Sometimes it seems like there's no such thing as "just OK".

One of the reasons I keep coming back here is that the discussions here are a little more nuanced than that.
