Now this might just be Rapp avoiding spoilers but this quote makes it sound like the Spore Drive won't be used, or at least not used like it was in Season 1.

So, I am really grateful in season two I get to really deal with the aftermath of the loss of Culber and the question of what is next now if the Spore Drive isn’t going to continue as is, what is there to do?

Not really sure what you can do with Stamets? He is a specialist in a pretty narrow field of study, and not a field that would be in demand on conventional starships.

Really another reason why they should do their own thing. One of your breakout characters is one that really doesn't have much to do once you shut down the Spore Drive.

Because it’s Lorca.
He also is special.
He even has like, a first name and a surname.
Stamets is just Stamets, and Tilly is just Tilly.
But the special ones get two whole names, and don’t have to share or anything.

I think the show is going to miss Jason Isaacs. And having him come back as a vanilla version of Lorca simply isn't going to cut it.

They didn't know it was connected to the spores, at first. Lorca wanted to figure out how to weaponize it because of what it did to the Glenn.
