Paul Stamets and Sylvia Tilly? Those Stamets and Tillys?

I’ll give you Paul, as I think I heard it on screen more than once, it just didn’t stick...probably because only one person used it. But Sylvia? Don’t remember it coming up. Besides, I was largely joking about the heavy focus to the detriment of the other characters. I genuinely expected to get more formTilly by the time we hit the MU, but...not so much happened.

But Sylvia? Don’t remember it coming up.

I think she introduces herself to Burnham, using her first name. And in case we forgot, they seemed to put her in a shot with her footlocker multiple times over the first couple episodes she was in.

DS9 Klingons had extra skin flaps on their noise, not exactly the same as DSC, but it was there.

DSC just overly exaggerated the feature.

Looking at pictures, it just looks like an extra ridge on DS9 Klingons, not an actual nostril.

Both characters are front and center as I recall. Perhaps not as much as Lorca or Burnham, but they figure in several episodes. Especially the MU ones.
Oh, why the fuck do Klingons have four nostrils now? :guffaw:
They always had a thing above the nostrils, that could be reinterpreted as a second set of nostrils

If they're nostrils, they're impossible to breathe through. Unless they flare open in the heat of battle in a place where it's hard to breath?

They're like Spock's second pair of eyelids, they only pop up when needed by the plot.

Klingons have redundancies, Vulcans have redundancies, where are our redundancies? I think we got screwed.

All we have are baby teeth that get replaced with teeth we're stuck with for the rest of our lives. I could use a third set of teeth.

On another note...

Now this might just be Rapp avoiding spoilers but this quote makes it sound like the Spore Drive won't be used, or at least not used like it was in Season 1.

There wasn’t really time to process the cataclysmic events of season one, because we had to get through it. So, I am really grateful in season two I get to really deal with the aftermath of the loss of Culber and the question of what is next now if the Spore Drive isn’t going to continue as is, what is there to do?

I'm leaning more towards it won't be used like in Season 1. Pike is taking command of Discovery because it has Spore Drive and it would be more useful for the mission of the season.

That lends itself towards being used differently since in the first season it was primarily used as a tactical advantage over the Klingons and travelling across universes.

It seems like Pike will fit in pretty good on Discovery, based on how well the actors seem to gel. That will translate on screen. Hopefully, while watching, we'll be like "Lorca who?"

I definitely hope they go outdoors more in the second season. Four-and-a-half episodes in and I'm tired of everything being on a soundstage.

They can have an away mission while filming in studio. Qonos was not on-location filming after all.

While I generally could tell in Berman Trek when they were filming in studio pretty easily, I'd much rather have fake caves and trees and the like every so oft rather than just more shots of hallways on Discovery.

We have two lungs and two kidneys, and two gonads, and can survive the removal of one of each with relatively little issue.

Plus we can survive the removal of half of our brain, with relatively little long-term impairment (depending upon which hemisphere and age/gender).

I read a short story online years ago; I can't recall the name or author (it wasn't anyone well known), but it was interesting because it was told from the perspective of a alien species that was speaking with awe and fear about amazing human biological traits like tissue regeneration, color vision and many other senses, redundant organs or ones that will continue functioning even with part damaged or removed, sweating to release body heat, bipedal walking and freeing the upper limbs for simultaneous tool use, impressive long distance running endurance and speed, our ability to adapt and survive in a wide variety of environments, our strong immune system, opposable thumbs, our innate understanding of trajectories and ability to throw aimed objects with great accuracy, etc.

It was basically treating humans like the fearsome and biologically nigh indestructible aliens in the same way many of our scifi stories treat aliens, which was a cool change of pace and perspective.

Finished up through episode nine, the acting is pretty good, though the writing will give you a headache if you think too much about it.

Oh, Burnham and Tyler in a romantic relationship is about as interesting as watching wet blankets get it on.
