Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

Cross-post from the gaming subforum sine it is DSC related.

Star Trek Online is getting a DSC Themed update coming in the future.

DSC Themed update coming in the future.

The story takes place during that time gap between Episodes 2 and 3 of Season 1.

The villain is T'Kuvma's sister from the comics which is neat.

Still, this feels like something CBS pushed for because it seems too close to their newest expansion.

I'll have to tell my brother about DSC being in Star Trek Online. He'll like that.

I've had the shittiest week ever but I think the worst of it is over (hopefully). Soon we'll be putting out the Awards.

I've tried to like STO, but as an mmo, it's just too simplified and doesn't feel like you're risking anything.

I gave up on STO after They started putting the really popular ships in Their RNG Boxes.
And I had been playing since day one.

You said 'but as an mmo', when Eve isn't the typical MMO.
I've played on and off for years. I'm not sure what's not typical about it. The learning curve is harder, yes, but it has clans (albeit corporations), quests, playerkilling (a lot of that), and various job roles.

but it is more risky yes. If you get podded and lose the equivalent of $100 in implants, not to mention time and the cost of a ship, it does suck :)

I don't play video games and thus have never played Star Trek Online, but I've heard that Rene Auberjonois reprises his role as Odo, so that's something I'd be interested in seeing.

I hope it does. Hang in there.

Good news is, I'll be putting together a comic strip with a collaborator. I just got the blessing to do it. It's a comedy. A demented, dark, black comedy. My favorite kind of stuff. It'll be out in 2019. Unrelated the crap currently going on, but it's something to look forward to finally... besides Discovery Season 2, of course.

Most MMOs don't have stuff like that. That is what I'm getting at.

EVE is atypical.

It has all the original actors for Odo, Kira, the Female Changeling, Quark, Garak, Bashir, Brunt/Weyoun, Leeta, Rom/Sovak (from TNG), and the unnamed infant Jem'hadar from 'The Abandoned'

How is it going?

I got most of the way through "Despite Yourself" when one of my friends texted me looking for a video file. So I had to look for that. Then, my body reminded me never to start binge-watching late at night.... especially after I already just binge-watched the sixth season of Orange Is the New Black in under 24 hours.

So, I stopped the binge last night and picked up this morning. I'm currently in the middle of "Vaulting Ambition". Burnham is a horrible double-talker when she's having her meal with Georgiou.

The Defiant, I've come to the conclusion, wasn't a Chekhov's Gun but a distraction. Lorca needed to use the Defiant as an excuse, so he and Burnham could get off of Discovery and go directly to Georgiou via the Shenzou. Lorca probably figured Georgiou would come for Burnham the moment word got out that she was back.

I was wondering how Culber could possibly come back and figured before it might have something to do with the Mycellial (sp?) Network, but then Tilley said something about how fungus links life and death... so, I think the spores revive Culber's body in S2. Just a guess.

And I'm shocked Burnham didn't notice something was up with Lorca when he started to look like he felt a little too at home in the Mirror Universe.

If I could afford to, I'd have a tailor make me some Disco Mirror costumes. I don't care what the naysayers think. They seriously look bad-ass.

I don't think Voq's dead, despite what we've been shown. L'Rell may have done the death howl but the very next cut-away is to Stamets telling Culber he saw him die. That cut-away is no coincidence. The two situations are parallel and we already know Culber is coming back in S2.

EDIT: Now that I know Lorca's from the Mirror Universe, the reveal that he had a thing with Mirror Burnham is still creepy but less of a "What the fuck?" moment because he is a creep. When I thought he was from the Prime Universe, I just thought he was a prick and that was all, until the reveal, which made everything so much worse. Worse in a good way, because anything that makes me get genuinely so upset at the characters themselves is good writing.

DOUBLE-EDIT: Three episodes out of four down. Taking a break for now to take care other things.
