Gene Roddenberry Quote in Someone's Signature

I can't seem to find it, but it seems like it was here, or maybe over on StarTrekMovie.com, that someone had a quote in their signature, reportedly from Gene Roddenberry in 1988, that says (verbatim) "If I made Star Trek the way you all wanted it, it would be shit!"

Does anyone know *what* signature I'm talking about or has that? I always thought that was a funny line and was curious if that member or anyone else had any more info on what he was talking about, like when it was said, etc. Not that I doubt the person who lists it, in fact it is just the opposite! I just thought that quote was cool and quite funny.

I think Roddenberry was supposed to have said that (or used words to that effect) at a con, in response to a question about fan suggestions from the audience along the general lines of "Why didn't you have ____________ do ___________ in the show? We thought it was a cop-out that you did _________ instead." I don't recall whether number6 was in attendance or came by the quote second-hand, but I remember him talking about it in a thread at some time in the past.
