I don't really believe in curses either, but all 3 of the child stars from that show have had nothing but bad lives since that time. Really bad lives.

You want to know the interesting thing about Emmanuel Lewis? He's still acting, and is better off than Gary Coleman ever was. So, not all kids who act have shitty lives when they become adults.

As an aside just as evidence the entertainment masses had lost interest in him he was at a show in Knoxville, TN called AdventureCon about 3yr or so ago. A more midsize show, Ernie Hudson was there along with Doug Jones(Hellboy/Rise of SSurfer), Michael Bien, Shawnee Smith(Saw films & Becker) and Missi Pyle just to give you an idea the talent this con could draw.
Gary had virtually no one at his table all day. The 6hrs or so I was there I think I saw maybe 7-8 people. At one point he had his head down on the table trying to nap. Seeing people lined up for the others and nearly no one coming over to you has to hurt a bit. I also had no interest. Different Strokes just want that great a show.

Assuming the TV-Movie was mostly true, I hope his parents think long and hard now about the way they worked him in all those god-awful TV movies. I have to imagine that, had he gotten to rest and play some, as a kid should (especially a kid with his money-in-theory), his long-term health issues might have been at least somewhat better. Buying themselves expensive gifts from his money (funneled through a sleazy 'salary' arrangement) while going ballistic over his toys--geez. Even back when, I used to wonder why he was doing endless TV movies with one plot between them, and now we know.

You're the one trying to whistle your way through bias here. Gary Coleman and Emmanuel Lewis look absolutely NOTHING alike. Even if this stunt was NOT somehow intended to turn on the cliche of "they all look a like to me", it can fairly be interpreted as an attempt to do so and therefore is tasteless. Sticking up a picture of Nicholson and calling him Hopper doesn't give it a pass and, frankly, you never answered the most basic question; What supposed to be so funny about purposefully putting up a photo of the wrong person in a obit? Where's the "humor" in that again? "Looky thar! I putted up a pitcher o' th'WRONG guy! Hardee har har har!".
Sorry, man. With the BEST of intentions motivating it, this is really lame and otherwise, it CAN fairly be seen as offensive. Deal with it. Also, there's really nothing quite as sad as a closet-bigot who delights in making racist comments and then pretends to "not understand" why others take exception to him. Nobody reaches adulthood in this society without understanding at least some of the dynamic of race-relations and a perception of what is and is not appropriate and what may be SEEN as inappropriate. Purposefully ignoring the dynamics, making borderline or offensive comments while pretending to not understand those dynamics and then blaming a negative reaction on someone elses "bigotry" is cowardly and childish. If you can't SEE how a "joke" like this could be interpreted as offensive, whether intended as such or not, you're NOT an "innocent" as far as race-relations are concerned. YOU ARE INSENSITIVE.

It appears that after all is said and done, it was his bad kidneys that caused Gary Coleman's death. According to reports today, he fell and received a one-inch gash in his head that caused intercranial bleeding, this after an "exhaustive four-hour session" of dialysis.

Man, you'd think that once a person is dead, the news has gotten as bad as it's going to get. Not for poor Gary Coleman though. Turns out he and his wife divorced in 2008 and she likely didn't have the authority to order pulling the plug on him, though apparently it was done at her direction.

He lived here in the Denver area and spent a lot of time at Caboose Hobbies on Broadway where he indulged his hobby of model trains. I think his ailment is in part what brought him to fame but it also held him back from reaching his full potential. He was never taken seriously as an adult actor because he never grew up in the perception of the viewing public.

The guy had a sucky life when it came to family and friends but he contiually tried to find a career again or do other things. He had hopes and dreams just like anyone else here and in one second he fell and than died. Its not funny and I wouldnt joke about anyone here or elsewhere if the same thing happened to them.

Does anyone remember him being on the show Good Times? He played one of Penny's (played by Janet Jackson) friends on the show in a few episodes. This was before Dif'rent Strokes, which I thought was basically his startum.

Can you imagine how humiliating it must have been for him during the period of his life when he was a security guard for a parking lot in Los Angeles? Poor guy is there making roughly minimum wage on an hourly basis, wearing a uniform with his name-tag on it and people are asking him for autographs. How BIZARRE must that have felt?
