If his number wasn't worthy of being retired before his death, his death doesn't change that fact.

^ They should have already done it, long before this happened. Gary's a Hall of Fame catcher. Even when he was alive, he deserved to have his number retired. Along with Mike Piazza.

^ They should have already done it, long before this happened. Gary's a Hall of Fame catcher. Even when he was alive, he deserved to have his number retired. Along with Mike Piazza.

He's a Hall of Famer as an Expo, though. His number was retired by them already (the number is still retired by the Washington Nationals). I always thought of him as a Met, because of the '86 World Series, but he began and ended his career with Montreal.
