Garak's Poison in The Wire

Quark tells Bashir that Garak had been drinking (lots) of Canar, but when Bashir shows-he's now drinking a blue concoction-which looks like Romulan Ale.
So did the writers change the way Canar looks (blue to maple syrupy) or did Garak just start drinking something else and nothing was said about what it was.

Kanar has been seen in many different colors and bottles over the years. Obviously the cultured Garak was a connoisseur of a wide variety of kanars from verious regions and colonies throughout the Union. Damar, on the other hand, probably drinks the cheapest rot gut you can buy.
