Garak and Ziyal: Did it bother you?

I never thought of it as a serious romantic relationship, at least from Garak's point of view. Garak was very fond of her, but he didn't act attracted to her, and Ziyal seemed to like Garak in a cutesy kind of way. It seemed very much like a platonic romance, if such a thing is possible. To me, their relationship is more fuel for the Garak-is-gay argument, because here's this smoking hot chick who's really in to Garak, and he's just totally baffled by the situation. I really think that Garak was in love with Julian, who appeared to be clueless throughout the whole series.

I don't think the age difference is creepy. True, Garak could be 20, 30, or 40 years older than Ziyal, but we're not talking about human courtship standards here - besides, they're the only Cardassians on the station, and they're both adults.

I never really thought of Jake and Ziyal getting together, but now that I think about the irony, Dukat's daughter and the Emissary's son falling in love, would that have made more of an impact on the storyline?



It would have been pretty predictable, but now that I think about it, too juicy to pass up.
