Ganger Doctor...(spoilers for like all this season so far)

The way the Doctor sort of just shows up - sonics the pool of goo - and runs out - makes me wonder if that's not the Doctor crossing his own timeline again like last season. Maybe that's why the older Doctor has been running for so long. He's been trying to undo all the things his "oncoming storm" persona has done or maybe it's to do with that whole "doctor falling so far" thing. He's been trying to fix it.

I dunno. It just seems like it could be a really interesting way out.

I like it.:techman:

Same bow tie, same coat, same shirt, same torch, same screwdriver. Looks like the same Doctor to me. But then... he reversed the jelly baby of the neutron flow, so who knows.

An odd bit that struck me is Smith's forehead. The "old" Doctor had more creases in it than the young one did. The Doctor in AGMGTW had the same look. I don't remember if the ganger doctor did too.

If that is totally nuts blame it on random neuron firings in my brain.

I've been thinking about something.

If the Ganger Doctor could be made real - using the same process he used to make the human Gangers real, would that Ganger Doctor then have a full set of regenerations?

I ask because the Doctor told the Ganger Doctor that he may yet survive being melted. It also seems really odd to have made a special point of making himself a Ganger only to teach Ganger Amy a lesson without some greater purpose.

I'm wondering that the Doctor we see die, is actually the Real Doctor who is then replaced by the fully realized Ganger Doctor with a fresh set of regenerations.

River says that even a cell of a Time Lord is infinitely important. The Ganger Doctor's cells are all over the place on that island. Why mention that? And why burn the body?

Maybe it's because the Doctor doesn't wish anyone to know that he created a new version of himself complete with new regenerations?

Is this crazy?

Doubtful. Having the real Doctor die and get replaced by a copy would not be emotionally satisfying. It's an interesting theory, but I think the producers are content to surprise us with other plot developments.
