Noticeably absent are Daney's dragons from the last episodes and Tommen from the trial.

Edit: And there is another interview with Ian Glen here.
I find it interesting how he answers one particular question.

HBO: If you were on trial, who would you want on your side?

Iain Glen: Tyrion. He understands the way the world works. He's quick-witted and probably the smartest legal mind.
I wonder if he has read the books or knows what direction his character is going. If he hasn't or doesn't, then that's a great stroke of luck on his insight. Makes me all the more excited about the next season. I can't wait to watch Peter Dinklage and Iain Glen act off each other.

Didn't Tommen excuse himself from the trial?

He did but he's still the King. You'd think he'd show for the trial of his Uncle regardless.

But even G of T likely has to keep the number of reoccurring actors to a reasonable budget per episode.

And the dragons are costly CGI, so no need to show them all the time, we know from a few episodes back there around burning and eats in goats and such.

I shall miss Oberyn, but he was a fucking idiot here, because TPTB needed him to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I think if they had done that it would have messed up where they are going with Tyrion's story.

Regarding consummating the marriage - everyone believes they actually did so it's Sansa's word against general perception.
1) No, that they didn't consummate the marriage was well-known.
2) Since Sansa is a virgin still, she can prove that there was no consummation, as she still has her hymen (presumably).

Speaking of improving on the book, the Sansa story has only gotten better. I was curious to see how Littlefinger would handle Lysa's death (in the book, someone else was present and he pinned the death on him) and the way Sansa saved his ass was priceless. But not only that, she's learning from him. She lied by telling the truth. Fantastic.

Yep. I think it's an improvement on the book as well.
I don't know what I think of the change yet, in terms of Sansa's characterization (GRRM's Sansa has a bunch of traditionally feminine strengths that the show has been completely uninterested in, and now they've turned her into an overnight schemer strutting around like a vamp), but the the show's version makes Littlefinger look like a complete moron, when he's supposed to be a genius. He didn't need to kill Lysa when he did, and he apparently has no plan apart from saying that she committed suicide and hoping the lords don't ask to speak to the other witness, who he doesn't know will corroborate what he says.

Here's the alternate Happy Ending to the episode btw :)

That's why you don't monolog until AFTER your opponent is dead. Stabbing him, turning around, and assuming it'll all work out (while staying within reach) is a rookie move, and he deserved what he got there... ;)

Bronn wouldn't have been so foolish. He probably would have used a spear as well.

Not too late, but the first thing I thought about the climax of this episode was this:

I was expecting Oberyn to become a major player in the future (I'm only on book 2). That was completely unexpected.

Much like Ned, his influence will have to live on in his offspring...

This is true. I think his character has suffered at the expense of Sansa's development.

I honestly don't mind, though. Littlefinger is repulsive, and Sansa needs some development beyond constantly being in peril, so I like it.
