Galaxy Quest vs TREK

I was watching GALAXY QUEST on Bluray last night. This is pretty funny movie, and I dare say, better than some of TREK's movie attempts. How does it stack up in your mind against our beloved movies?

For me? Galaxy Quest is better than;
Nemesis
Insurrection
FC
The Final Frontier

It is Equal to;
Generations
The Search for Spock
The Motion Picture

But GALAXY QUEST is not better than..
Khan, The Voyage Home, The Undiscovered Country and XI

I think GQ works as well as it does because we can relate to all the jokes
it's a parody of Star Trek and its fans while being respectful, and in the end it's sort of a celebration of the whole sci-fi fandom thing . . .

Galaxy Quest is, after Star Trek, the only Trek-film that ever managed to capture the feeling, the fun, the adventure, the excitement of TOS.

I love Galaxy Quest. It's one of my favorite comedies. But because it's a comedy, comparing it to trek films is like comparing apples and oranges.

I love Galaxy Quest and like Wes can quote an awful lot of it. But like Scottyclaus i couldn't compare it against Star Trek. Its in a class all by itself!

My whole family loves Galaxy Quest, and while it parodies Trek, we don't compare it. Like Randi said, it is in a class all by itself. I'll be getting that one on Blu-ray.

I've seen Galaxy Quest a few times, and I admit its funny, but its no Star Trek. I love Star Trek alot better than Galaxy Quest, so for me its Star Trek.

I was going to reply, but this sums up what I intended to say pretty well.

Can you even compare a comedy like Galaxy Quest to a serious movie like Nemesis? I wouldn't compare Spaceballs to Star Wars (originals or the prequels). Two entirely different intentions in these movies.
