You gotta love a guy from our era getting the better of people from the 24th ,and 29th century.
I really liked this episode, too. It was fairly solid all around and Ed Begley Jr. was a hoot in your classic megamaniacal archetype kind of way. My only three nits that take me out:
-Braxton saying, "THERE'S NO TIME!" when he is, in fact, a time traveler in a time machine.
-Likewise, Voyager taking out Braxton's time ship (which was specifically sent to destroy Voyager) makes about as much sense as a wooden pirate ship taking out an F-14 fighter with cannonballs and throwing nets.
-Whenever Begley Jr was "expertly" hacking and typing away, it was pretty clear that he was just mushing all these keys together rather than typing. There's a fine line between type-acting and just hammering away like a 3 year old.
Other than that, we got Sarah Silverman (yay!), the Mobile Emitter (yay!), and another visit to the 20th century (yay!).
Oh good, I thought I was weird for loving Sarah Silverman as the guest star. Not everyone seems to like her.
Her dialog was so campy.

I liked the toys on her desk. Didn't she have one of the mind control Aliens from "The Cage"/"Menagerie" on the desk?
Janeway had such a smug attack in the sickbay after they captured Starling. OMG, she was at her most self-righteous, Peggy-Hill-in-space mode ever. "It's over - I've won!" she yelled, like a spoiled little girl in a huff. And the lecture about how much "better" she and people from her era are compared to him? Why was she getting so petty over this? I was laughing and bewildered at the same time. I'm not sure what the writers were going for there, but the result was certainly unique. The people who insist Janeway was always written to be perfect need to watch that scene ASAP.
When Starling beamed away, my reaction was "Serves you right, Janeway!" - but I was never rooting for him.
Loved the episode. Starling's "Uh oh!" at the end was great, too.
Oh, and "Chronowerx' stock... is about to crash!" may be the cheesiest line in all of Voyager.

Janeway might be my homegirl, but that scene makes me laugh every. damn. time.
She was so mad when he got away after that smug speech.
I can't believe the writers weren't going for that one on purpose.That "stock" line is a close second to "Time's up" in my personal Book of Cheesy Janeway One-Liners.

I actually felt the complete opposite. I got quite pissed off that some primitive nobody from our time was able to get any ground against the crew of a 24th Century starship. A guy from our time with 29th century technology would be like a caveman with a laptop. I just didn't at all buy the fact that this guy was capable of getting into the ship's systems and downloading it all, and stealing the doctor and using the holo-emitter and piloting the timeship.
I must admit, I only cheered once he got his selfish arrogant ass blown up in space.
I have this thing for Star Trek that I would much prefer the actors and crew wearing something other than the uniform so it was great seeing the crew wearing stuff from our century. Also, this was the introduction of the pony tail, and I thought it was Janeway's best look so that also gets points.
As for the episode itself, it's always been one of my favorite episodes of the series (top 10). Just love Begley Jr. and Sarah Silverman in this episode. Heck, I was first introduced to Silverman with this episode, and when I watched her show, I was shocked at how vulgar it was. This episode might be a reason why I didn't really like her show.

I liked Dunbarr. The loyal Lieutenant who thought he was working for a great man who saved the day when Starling seemed to be all but done in. nothing evil about the guy except that he was in opposition to Janeway, or perhaps that he hadn't figured out his boss was batshit.
Its hard for me to cheer for the bad guy, with Janeway running around most of the ep with Chakotay, looking so good in civilian clothes.

Excellent episode! Time-travel episodes can be a bit weird sometimes but this one is great.
Not to mention that Henry Starling is a great villain.
Fortunately some other people seem to appreciate Starling too.
