Future Guy & Daniels (Trek XI spoilers)

Lady Conqueror

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
So in light of the Trek XI movie going all AU and Enterprise ending up as the only show that would be consistent with both -

Are Future Guy and Daniels from the new timeline or the old timeline?

Oh, that's a difficult question... It could be from any timeline that starts after Enterprise.
My question is, if when you go back in time and change something, then a new timeline begins and the old one remains unaltered, then what's the use of the TCW?

Perhaps the universe is largely self-correcting for small alterations to the timeline and it takes only really big dramatic changes (Vulcan blowing up for instance) to really throw things onto a permanent altered timeline track.

Problem is that a change in time is not static.

One change begets another until you have a cascade of changes. none that you can predict or control.

Grandfather paradox:

You go back in time and kill your grandfather. He doesn't grow up and marry, your father is not born he does not meet your mother and marry her and you are not born. so you don't go back in time and kill yoru grandfather. eventually you are born and go back in time and kill our grandfather. There has been a loop in time created that goes on and on and only an outside source can stop it. Howver, in your part of the time line everything stops because of that loop and what should have happened in the time line and the people who should have been born does not happen. so events down the time line don't happen and things might go to hell in a handbasket.

time is not somethng to be fooled with.

I believed that even in ENT the Suliban were altering the timeline ... although we never find that out b/c it ends so poorly.

I think it's odd the Romulans only went after certain moments in time. And it reinforces that FG is a Romulan. (Which I always thought to be the case, alas we'll never know.)

Given the fate of Romulus in the far future, that gives even more reason for Future Guy to be of that race. Perhaps he's one of the last hold-outs, proud to be a Romulan while his fellows have reunified with the Vulcans. Screwing up the 22nd Century effectively ensures the Romulan Star Empire remains together.

Another thought concerning the USS Defiant's computer file on Archer's future. Maybe we're thinking three dimensionally, when four are really required to understand that. Since that ship has fallen through time from the original TOS timeline, perhaps those are the original history records, before the Temporal Cold War had an impact on the past. So we have an NX-01 crew which got involved in certain events - first contact with the Andorians, exploring the world later known as Archer IV, but no Xindi attack on Earth and definitely no "These are the Voyages..." ;)

I think Future Guy might be a future (or past) version of Daniels. Like in "Relativity", when the bad guy turned out to be a future version of Braxton. Which brings me to an interesting point: why don't Braxton and his crew correct the timeline? IMO, the only explanation is that this timeline corrects itself (has a reset button at the end), so they don't have to.
