Futuran culture the origin of drones?

Hello everyone,

Not getting resolution to the plot threads started in season 2 of SGU is killing me.

I was expecting a reveal that the drone ships were created by the second group of Destiny settlers in the past, the "Futurans," with the alternate cultural philosophy.

Has this been discussed or conjectured before? Thoughts?

I doubt it. If the Futurans developed the Drones and theiy hyperdrive capable Command Ships, why didn't contribute hyperdrive to the ships the escape ships that left Novus?

Didn't the Futurans split off their culture for several generations?

...I really want to know where these asshole drones came from!!! :(

It was stated both nations set aside their differences and worked together to build the ships to escape the planet.

Besides, Futurans never left the planet. If they had developed the drones, wouldn't they have used them against their rival nation before setting them loose on the rest of the galaxy?

How was it that Novus was somehow spared by the drones when every other planet that had technology was decimated by them?

The planet in Common Descent had not been found by the drones either, not until the Destiny crew lead them there anyway. I don't think there is any suggestion that they actively seek out all technology in the galaxy, they just attack and pursue any technology that they do happen to encounter.

You're right about that, but the planet in Common Descent had very little technology and Destiny was a huge piece of tech, so I had assumed that the drones were attracted by IM fields or some other technology marker. Novus appeared to be a thriving civilization until that little supervolcano problem popped up, so I figured that it would have attracted the drones. I guess they got luck if the drones didn't stumble upon them.

I know, right?? Very fishy. I think they should have tried harder to find those generational ships from Novus. You're telling me they couldn't figure out a ballpark range for location based on ship velocity and departure date, and use those fantastic long-range sensors to ping the ships? All they needed were the "frequencies" of the drone tech and they were suddenly able to locate them in real time in dozens of sifferent star systems, implying the sensors (when calibrated specifically) can work across hundreds (possibly thousands) of light years. With access to the information available on Novus, couldn't they scan for the "frequencies" of the non-FTL generational ships?
