Good news, everyone!

Not only is the show returning on August 3, the show will blissfully return to its weekly format after last season's binge release!

“Brace yourselves… The future is about to get a whole lot stranger! It’s a non-stop onslaught of swaggering space pirates, lab-grown meats, sexy scams… plus the shocking return of Dr. Zoidberg’s lost love! You didn’t see that coming, prior to being told about it just now! It’s a thrilling, all-new season of Futurama on Hulu!”
I really hope the lost love is Marianne! I was disappointed when she didn't return with the show.

I'm glad it's coming back that soon, from the description it sounds like we've got some fun stuff coming up this season.

...and I completely missed it until I read your post. I was distracted by Fry's manbun. *shudder*
Me too, I thought he was standing on top of whatever it was they are riding in.
It is weird we haven't gotten a trailer yet, but I've noticed with a lot of streaming series they wait until close to the release date to finally put out a trailer.

I'm all for more Futurama but I'm uncertain about the extended specials. The last time they did that were the DVD movies which were very hit and miss. Futurama works best with the tight 22-minute format and not longer runtimes.

That said, the first episode is Xmas related so perhaps the other other are similarly themed, which could come with a sharper focus in storytelling.

I hadn't heard about the DVD-exclusive episodes. That's because the movies aren't on Disney+ türkiye right now. I just checked, and each one is 90 minutes long. They're also available on pirate sites. I just started watching the first one there.

Anyway, these won't be movie-length like the DVD-exclusive episodes. *The Simpsons* and *Family Guy* also have special episodes like this. Each one is 22 minutes long, and sometimes two episodes are even aired together as a single broadcast. *Futurama*'s will probably be the same.

But there's one thing: since new episodes of *The Simpsons* and *Family Guy* premiere on Fox first, it makes more sense to create exclusive content for Hulu and Disney+ outside of the TV broadcasts. With *Futurama*, that's not the case. Also, I heard *Bob's Burgers* is getting a special episode too. That makes a bit more sense, since its new episodes also premiere on Fox.

Except the Deadline explicitly says "extended-length." That said, you're probably right these specials will be closer in length to the recent Simpsons and Family Guy specials than the DVD movies, but I imagine these specials will be longer than 22 minutes.
