Futurama 3: Bender's Game -- First review + special features

The first review for Bender's Game is out at Screen Jabber.com (SPOILERS BEWARE), and it's very positive!

Bender's Game seems a lot less like four episodes joined together than the first two DVDs did. And there are so many more clever touches, sight gags and one-liners in this one.

Futurama has always been about the characters — those wonderful, bizarre, quirky Planet Express characters — and in Bender's Game no one misses out. Each and every major character gets plenty of screen time, and is given a chance to shine. It's Futurama at its best, just as we love it, and who can ask for more than that?

As for the bonus features:
  • Commentary Track: With Matt Groening, David X Cohen, Billy West, John DiMaggio, Tress MacNeille, Michael Rowe, Claudia Katz and Dwayne Carey-Hill
  • Storyboard animatic for part one
  • Futurama Genetics Lab: cross-breed your favourite characters (:wtf::lol:)
  • D&D&F: Featurette on Futurama and D&D
  • How to Draw Futurama in 83 Steps Featurette
  • 3-D model Featurette
  • Recording session bloopers
  • Bender's anti-piracy warning
  • Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder trailer

Forgot to add the release dates:
Bender's Game is released in the UK on November 3, the US on November 4 and Australia on December 10

Arrrhh, December 10 for Australian release? Sooo far away! I didn't have a problem with the first two, but this seems like a good sign for the latest anyways!

I haven't seen Beast with a Thousand backs, yet. Is it worth a purchase?

If you're a fan, yes.

People quibble over the fact that it "feels like an episode" instead of a movie.

I say, so?

I'm not saying it's perfect, I'm just saying I was glad I spent the money on it.

Has there been any word about moving beyond this trilogy? Or will we have to wait until seeing the sales numbers?

The deal was to make four movies, so there will be one more after this.

After that, it's all sales numbers.

Two questions:

1) I wonder if they'll have a tribute at the end of Gary Gygax since he made an appearance on the show before and some of his creatures have popped up in the show (the Beholder comes to mind).

2) When was Mom and Farnsworth ever married???

^ My friend keeps trying to convince me to read that book. He tells me it is very good indeed. I dont have time right now though.

Both movies are enjoyable and highly praised by the majority of reviewers and fans. Also note that there is essentially a full-length bonus episode on the DVD, assembled from the video game cut scenes.

I'm excited that Takei and Gygax are back... even though Gygax is dead. :(
I was about to tell you that Gary Gygax wasn't in this movie, but the review's cast list DOES include him. He has never been mentioned as being in the movie until now. Only Takei and Little.
