Funny one-sentence descriptions of DS9 episodes

Looking For Par'mach in All the Wrong Places: At eight words, the longest episode title on Trek, a title it will hold until "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not For the Lamb's Cry"

Actually, TOS' "FOR THE WORLD IS HOLLOW AND I HAVE TOUCHED THE SKY" has been and continues to be the longest title in the franchise.

:techman::biggrin::beer:

Actually, TOS' "FOR THE WORLD IS HOLLOW AND I HAVE TOUCHED THE SKY" has been and continues to be the longest title in the franchise.

Somebody pass me a crowbar so I can pry my foot out of my #$@*!-ing mouth.

Forgot this one...

Let He Who is Without Sin: Worf joins a group of fanatics who later turn into terrorists and launches a devastating attack on planetwide infrastructure... but he has childhood trauma so it's all OK.

And onward...

In Purgatory's Shadow: Hello, real Martok... adios, Enabrin Tane.

By Inferno's Light: Dukat has sone from station commander to lowly officer to insurgent to puppet ruler of Cardassia... what is that guy gonna do next?

Dr. Bashir, I Presume: Well now we know where the EMH's snark came from... oh, and Bashir's been illegally genetically altered.

A Simple Investigation: Totally forgot about this one, that's weird.

Business as Usual: Quark's quest for his own moon is derailed by his discovering that yes, he does have a conscience.

Inspiration strikes again! Here is season 6...

"A TIME TO STAND" - A sandwich, a viewscreen, and a chair... I watched this having ALL 3 things.

"SONS AND DAUGHTERS" - Dukat is space Hitler, but he is a better father than Worf.

"ROCKS AND SHOALS" - A Vedek hangs out in the Promenade.

"BEHIND THE LINES" - (singing) I stop the world, I melt with you.

"FAVOR THE BOLD" - Outnumbered 2-1... Sisko laughs at those odds.

"SACRIFICE OF ANGELS" - (singing to the tune of "Running Up That Hill") I'll make a deal with the gods...

"YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED" - Some weddings can lead to a funeral.

"RESURRECTION" - After the six-part arc and a Klingon wedding, any episode done directly right after will be boring... so it's a shoe-in for MU Bareil.

"STATISTICAL PROBABILITIES" - Numbers DO lie.

"THE MAGNIFICENT FERENGI" - (singing to the tune of GHOSTBUSTERS) If your Moogie's caught, by the Dominion, who you gonna call...

"WALTZ" - Dancing on eggshells.

"WHO MOURNS FOR MORN?" - The franchise record for episode named after a character with the lowest amount of dialogue... not a single syllable!

"FAR BEYOND THE STARS" - Sisko is the dreamer and the dream.

"ONE LITTLE SHIP" - HONEY, I SHRUNK THE RUNABOUT!

"HONOR AMONG THIEVES" - NEW YORK: UNDERCOVER... with O'Brien.

"CHANGE OF HEART" - Jem'Hadar blast plus a jungle equals JUNGLE FEVER.

"WRONG DARKER THAN DEATH OR NIGHT" - (singing) Mama, I'm coming home.

"INQUISITION" - The Federation's version of the Tal Shiar... but more effective.

"IN THE PALE MOONLIGHT" - (singing) Dirty deeds, not done cheap.

"HIS WAY" - Sinatra your way to love success.

"THE RECKONING" - The only time Ben Sisko is a bad father.

"VALIANT" - More annoying bunch than even the Alpha-Betas of REVENGE OF THE NERDS.

"PROFIT AND LACE" - DRAG QUARK. (When the trailer for the episode first originally aired, I truly thought it was going to be titled this as a play off 'drag queen'.)

"TIME'S ORPHAN" - Children really DO grow up fast.

"THE SOUND OF HER VOICE" - The technological version of a seance.

"TEARS OF THE PROPHETS" - Visine would have helped Dukat's red eyes... and saved Jadzia's life.

I'll give my brain a break for the rest of the day before I go to the final season.

It's Ok, I'll drop a few in the meantime.

Ferengi Love Songs: Ishka makes her play for women's rights, Vizzini... uh, Zek loses this battle of wits, and Quark realizes that altruism and greed are not necessarily opposites.

Soldiers of the Empire: How Martok got his qua'pla back.

Children of Time: Odo commits genocide to save Kira... the things we do for love.

Blaze of Glory: Who let the Eddington out, woof woof woof!

Empok Nor: The Great Texas Redshirt Massacre, only not in Texas.

In the Cards: How Jake's gift shopping trip made everyone very happy.

Call to Arms: The Dominion War officially shifts into overdrive.

A Time to Stand: "Get ready for a surpri..." BOOOOOOM!!

Rocks and Shoals: It's raining Vedeks.

Sons and Daughters: (sings)
"But Worf's brat came back, he wouldn't stay away,
He was in the Klingon army, the very next day;
The brat came back, his brains were turned to foam,
The writers should have had him stay at home.

Favor the Bold: Ready or not, here comes the Sisko.

Sacrifice of Angels: The minefield is toast, and so is Ziyal.

You are Cordially Invited: Note to self... NEVER agree to participate in a Klingon wedding.

Resurrection: Kinky Kira comes to us.

The Magnificent Ferengi: "Strange bedfellows" is as much a thing for Ferengi as it is for "hew-mons".

Waltz: We see that Dukat is now playing with a deck that includes the king of spades, a couple of low clubs, three Jokers, a few Uno cards, a "get out of jail free" card from Monopoly, and a Pokemon game card with Charmander on it.

Who Mourns for Morn: We find out that Morn had multiple stomachs, liked to spar with Worf, stole latinum, collected bad art, hung out with hot babes, and had hair once.

Far Beyond the Stars: This is the episode you make if your makeup crew goes on strike.

One Little Ship: Tiny runabout rampage.

Honor Among Thieves: O'Brien gets a cat.

Change of Heart: Considering how the season ends, Worf didn't accomplish much here, did he?

Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night: If you go walkabout, you will eventually run into yourself... especially if time travel is involved.

Final season, here we go...

"IMAGE IN THE SAND" - We learn a Sisko family secret, but we'll never know the most important one... Joseph's gumbo recipe.

"SHADOWS AND SYMBOLS" - Three separate stories, everyone gets great scenes, nine main cast members... really VOYAGER, did you take notes?

"AFTERIMAGE" - Proof that shrinks are more screwed up than their patients.

"TAKE ME OUT TO THE HOLOSUITE" - Seriously, Ronald D. Moore is the funniest writer in the franchise.

"CHRYSALIS" - Julian... please stop dating your patients.

"TREACHERY, FAITH AND THE GREAT RIVER" - What could be better than having Weyoun? TWO Weyouns!

"ONCE MORE UNTO THE BREACH" - The last battle of STAR TREK's first Klingon.

"THE SIEGE OF AR-558" - Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!

"COVENANT" - If Alixus wasn't culty enough for you, we have Dukat here.

"IT'S ONLY A PAPER MOON" - Fantasy teaches reality.

"PRODIGAL DAUGHTER" - We finally meet Jadzia's family... wait, wrong Dax.

"THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOAK" - The final Ferengi is gone...

"FIELD OF FIRE" - Vulcans really have it rough on DS9.

"CHIMERA" - Beware of... THE FOG!

"INTER ARMA ENIM SILENT LEGES" - SPY VS. SPY.

"BADDA-BING, BADDA-BANG" - DEEP OCEAN'S 9.

I will do the final episodes either later tonight or tomorrow.

Inquisition: William Sadler (the guy who managed to steal scenes from acting powerhouses Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins in "The Shawshank Redemption") debuts on DS9. :techman:

In the Pale Moonlight: Given that Starfleet just introduced a "dirty work behind the scenes" organization ONE EPISODE AGO, why hadn't they done this already?

His Way: Nanook of the North meets the Burning Hot Bajoran. :D

The Reckoning: Treachery and faith, but no great river. ;)

Profit and Lace: One wonders how an episode meant to advocate equality between the sexes can insult the cause of women's rights so egregiously... but they managed it.

Time's Orphan: The O'Briens are almost never bad parents... but boy, when they are, they ARE! :ack:

The Sound of her Voice: A race against time... but time ran out a long time ago. :wah:

Tears of the Prophets: Dax is gone, Sisko's gone, the wormhole is gone... and the baseball is gone. :(

Season 7 coming...

Here it is, the final chapter of DEEP SPACE NINE...

"PENUMBRA" - Ezri performs 'very convincing' static, while Worf sings opera.

"'TIL DEATH DO US PART" - The Prophets really want to cock block Sisko, huh?

"STRANGE BEDFELLOWS" - Maybe he should talk to Worf again.

"THE CHANGING FACE OF EVIL" - Oh my god, they killed the Defiant. You bastards!

"WHEN IT RAINS..." - Who needs the Breen to achieve victory when you have Gowron?

"TACKING INTO THE WIND" - Ezri's most important dialogue of the season.

"EXTREME MEASURES" - The best explanation of male friendship you'll ever hear.

"THE DOGS OF WAR" - Quark does a great Picard impersonation, while Damar hides in his 'mountain retreat'.

"WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND" - DS9 leaves us with a lot of knowledge, including the fact you really can promote an ensign to lieutenant within the same series while it still airs.

This was a great deal of fun. I find myself somewhat saddened that I have finished the DS9 descriptions.

Oddish, I want to thank you for indulging my request and starting this thread.

Two thumbs up, buddy! :techman::techman:

And how long a competent ensign should remain at that rank. How did DS9 get promotion so right, and the ensuing series muck it up so badly?

Oddish, I want to thank you for indulging my request and starting this thread.

Well, this was as much your topic as mine. Thank you for ensuring that it didn't end up where my topics normally do, buried in the site archives with a single-digit number of replies.

Into Season 7...

Image in the Sand: The Romulans are up to something, the Prophets aren't done with Sisko yet, and Worf is even more pissed than usual. :klingon:

Shadows and Symbols: The Romulans don't get their hospital, the Pagh Wraiths don't get their wormhole, and the Dominion don't get their new ships. :angryrazz:

Shadows and Symbols (II): With his triumphant reentry, Sisko TOTALLY channels Vedek Bareil, complete with giving random kid pickie-uppies.

Afterimage: The station counselor is more neurotic than her patients.

Take me out to the Holosuite: Sisko has to learn a lesson that he should have known from the beginning: baseball is supposed to be fun.

Treachery, Faith, and the Great River: We lose what could have been the most interesting Weyoun of all. :wah:

Once More onto the Breach: That was probably one hell of a final battle... too bad we didn't see it.

The Siege of AR-558: They have phaser rifles and killer drones... but couldn't replicate a few Vietnam-era claymores?

The Siege of AR-558: One does wonder why someone hired as a STATION COUNSELOR is in combat and on the front lines...

Another reason why Sisko is my favorite captain... everyone he could promote, he did promote when he got promoted. (Since Kira was in the Bajoran Militia, he didn't have authority to do it, but she ended up getting one anyway. And O'Brien... we really don't know if he was made a higher Chief along with everyone else getting a promotion or not. I think I will say he did based solely on the fact Dax and Bashir got it, plus his new style pip right after "THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR".)

I have always suspected one of the reasons why promotions happened more properly on DS9 was because they had Ronald D. Moore on staff, who has a great deal of navy knowledge. Combine that with the fact DS9 was mostly left alone by the suits, I think my theory fits, especially considering he started off on DS9 higher up the chain when TNG ended. And even though he was on VOYAGER's staff for about a month, it certainly wasn't long enough to be able to do anything about promotions... plus the fact UPN really interfered with it.

And you're welcome! (I knew this thread would get some traction by others.:beer:)

Voyager's omission in that regard wasn't due to ignorance, it was due to sheer determination on the showrunners' part. Even when the complaints went into high gear, as they undoubtedly did after Tom was reinstated, they clung to the resolution that "somebody gotta be duh ensign" like a two-year-old clinging to someone else's teddy bear.

Covenant: Bajoran devil-worship, oh joy.

It's Only a Paper Moon: Nog needs his pain... whether he likes it or not.

PRODIGAL DAUGHTER - Starting to see why Ezri is neurotic... and it's not just the slug.

THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOAK - Some day, the citizens of the Restored Terran Empire will say... this is where it began.

FIELD OF FIRE - They REALLY needed that gun on AR-558!

INTER ARMA ENIM SILENT LEGES - Admiral Ross gets in bed with Section 31... but Senator Creetek is the one who's screwed!

BADDA-BING, BADDA-BANG - Am I the only one who thinks that Sisko's issues with Vic Fontaine's holoprogram got resolved WAY too easily... but hey, the music was great.

Penumbra - And the countdown to the apocalypse begins...

Till Death do Us Part - Sisko decides that the price of love is a price worth paying.

Into the homestretch...

Let's finish this...

STRANGE BEDFELLOWS - You know, that Bajoran guy hanging out with Winn looks strangely familiar...

THE CHANGING FACE OF EVIL - Guess the DS9 crew is back to using runabouts...

"WHEN IT RAINS..." - Uh... it's a 9-part episode, so more stuff happens... yeah, I need to watch the final episodes again.

When it Rains (watched it): We finally have the excuse to see how Kira looks in a Starfleet uniform.

TACKING INTO THE WIND - For a Starfleet officer, Worf's sure done a lot of Klingon political manipulation (i.e. killing high-ranking figures).

EXTREME MEASURES - Bashir and O'Brien take a strange journey through Sloane's brain.

THE DOGS OF WAR - Goodbye Ferengi alliance, hello Federation 2.0.

THE DOGS OF WAR (yet again) - Oh, and hello Ezri/Bashir romance, not like anyone cared.

"WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND" - The real reason why there wasn't a DS9 movie... between the wormhole, the Klingon empire, the Great Link, and Starfleet Academy... half the main cast wasn't there anymore.

BONUS CONTENT...

Birthright part I: Bashir points out some things about Data no one else ever noticed.

Caretaker: Quark is well on his way to plucking Harry Kim like a freshly killed pigeon before Tom rescues him.

Hear All, Trust Nothing: I'm glad Kira's angry a lot in this episode... she's awesome when she's angry.

I just thought of a bonus one. There is a song titled "Shatner on the Mount" on youtube by the group called Fall On Your Sword. I heard it years ago... it's basically Shatner's STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER interview on why Kirk is climbing the mountain, but edited to include a dance song.

So in that spirit...

"THE ASCENT" - (speak-singing as music plays)
Quark and Odo are climbing a mountain
Why are they climbing a mountain?

Quark and Odo are climbing a mountain
Why are they climbing a mountain?

The Reckoning Good and evil duke it out; obviously red=evil and blue=good, and of course of all places in the universe they could have chosen, it just has to be Sisko's space station. (Go, power rangers!)
