Funny! 42,000 Christmas Lights dance to Star Trekkin' Spoof

And this display has what to do with Star Trek?

I'm not questioning your post, sallyemmetsburg. In fact, welcome to the board. I'm just wondering why the owners picked this particular song.

LOL. I've never heard this before. And DrunkenSanta, it is appropriate for this forum as it references original Star Trek. Had it been more broad (referring to Picard et al), it would have been General Discussion fodder.

Welcome to the board, sallyemmetsburg.

"Klingons on the Starboard bow. Scrape 'em off, Jim!"
:rommie: :rommie: :rommie:
I think I have a new sig line!

Oh God, this is one twisted song!

:guffaw: - that song never fails to crack me up! - :guffaw:

Nice to see them using LED's, too. Too bad the light show wasn't better synchronized with the music, in the way of the well-known "Wizards in Winter" vid. But I'm no Ebeneezer Roddenberry..... I still get a kick out of it!

Same here, even after 20-something years. Welcome to the board sallyemmetsburg! :)

 I'm shocked...SHOCKED I tell you that Jingle Bonz has never heard this one! It's over 25 years old...Dr. Demento used to play it on his show pretty frequently back in the day. :) Glad you enjoyed it, though!

Re: Funny! 42,000 Christmas Lights dance to Star Trekkin' Sp

Ah. I never listed to Dr. Demento.

Re: Funny! 42,000 Christmas Lights dance to Star Trekkin' Sp

Then you've probably never heard "Star Drek" by Bobby Pickett and Peter Ferrara?

CAPTAIN JERK: "Heh...ain't I somethin'?"

I'll let you determine the copyright worthiness...here's the audio: http://www.supload.com/listen?I81MI6SK6EV7

Heh...never mind. I guess Supload did that for us. :(

Re: Funny! 42,000 Christmas Lights dance to Star Trekkin' Sp

The song was overdubbed. It's not what's playing to the lights. This guy who used to be a lighting engineer for concerts does this every year to CHRISTMAS MUSIC. I highly doubt he's using STAR TREKKIN' by the Firm for his holiday music. It doesn't sync at all and all his stuff over the years syncs perfectly.

Re: Funny! 42,000 Christmas Lights dance to Star Trekkin' Sp

I couldn't stand more than 30 seconds of that stupid song.

Wow - You missed an incredibly funny show. I too remember this from the mid 1970ies. It made Dr. Demeto's 'Top 10' for months. (and there were a number of Star Trek audio spoofs and songs that he played over the years). It's the first time I've heard that song again in over a decade though it's still great.

Re: Funny! 42,000 Christmas Lights dance to Star Trekkin' Sp

I don't think I had ever heard of the show back then. Or maybe it didn't air in my area. I don't know.

Re: Funny! 42,000 Christmas Lights dance to Star Trekkin' Sp

I grew up next to Pasadena, California, and listened to Dr. Demento back on KMET. I heard like his four show, ever. All my friends in high school were saying there was this new crazy guy on the radio playing even crazier music. I had to listen. This was years before he was syndicated.

Back when radio was interesting.

I still remember the song from back in the day, although I only recently got to see the original vid thanks to YouTube. Whatever you might think of the song, it is catchy to the point that it will stay in your head for days if you let it....!

Did you just bump a thread that was a year and half old?!

Welcome to the board shinri, I hope you'll enjoy your time here. But please don't bump threads this old, OK?
