To be fair, though, by the time the Klingons arrived on the bridge, the countdown was already at around 10 seconds left. I don't think they had time to beam out, anyway... especially since everyone except Maltz and Kruge (and the pair of Klingons on Genesis) were on the Enterprise. No one was manning the transporter.
