Sorry if I'm being thick here, it didn't hit me until afterward. Were those the twin towers in the alternate reality at the end?

Yes they were. The newspaper in Bells office said Obama Set To Move Into New Whitehouse. Apparently in this alternate reality the Whitehouse was destroyed on 9/11 and the twin towers are still standing.

But that doesn't quite make sense. The device Jones was using opened a window to the alternate reality at the same location. Dunham stepped off an elevator into the alternate reality. There are no buildings where the towers once stood so the window they brought her through also moved her.

Dunham shifted at least twice. She starts out on an empty elevator, then finds herself on an elevator full of people (from her perspective the people just appear) and then on an empty elevator again (from her perspective the people vanish).

Likely, the first one was a plain reality shift and the second was a spacial teleportation. It's also possible that the machines in the elevators did not move her at all, but induced her own latent reality shifting powers and teleportation powers, which would explain why the other people in the second elevator didn't move with her.

After this episode, it seems that the not-quite-human not-quite-superhuman Observers may be users of a refined version Walter's teleportation technology. Apparently, it alters the body in such a way as to provide, at the very least, immunity to puncture wounds, and produces some disfigurement and loss of pigment. They also seem to be aware of multiple realities.

I caught the double shift. I just thought it was weird how they seemed to make a point of showing that the windows Jones opened were in the same location but Dunham went through a 'corridor' I guess you could call it.

It's also possible that the twin towers were rebuilt in the other reality and they are now where the hotel was.

I don't think so, that appears to be the original location of the WTC.

Am I the only one that noticed the biggest revelation of the whole episode...........

Peter Bishop in our universe died when he was about 7 in 1983, as evidenced by Walter standing before a grave that says Peter Bishop 1976-1983? This likely means that the Peter we know is actually from the other universe.

The towers were in the same spot, and you wouldn't rebuild the exact same buildings.

Yeah, I caught that other bomb shell. If the living Peter is the alternate reality Peter (probably is as he didn't remember the bit about the coins) and Walter brought him over to replace his dead son, he'll be pissed.

I watched even though I didn't watch 70% of the episodes. Loved the ending, classic style ending.

Also I think it's clear that the White House was hit instead of the towers because the Obamas moved into the NEW White House.

I'm so hoping someone at Fox News has a hissy fit for using the towers. To them the only day the towers existed were on 9-11.

It was a good episode, but I felt a little underwhelmed with the end. yes the WTC was a big surprise, but I wanted more with William Bell.

I'll definitely keep watching. Will Olivia meet up with the alternative universe John Scott?
