Map of the alt-USA (US-ALTMERICANS).

Oh, no the Upper Pennisula of Michigan isn't part of the USA!

How did they get by without it? :p

They combined all the north/south/west states but split Texas.

Dramatically speaking, the key moment was when Peter decided to return.

Peter's reason for hanging around has always boiled down to instant love for Olivia. It's been a weak motivation and bad writing in my opinion, but it's been there. What hasn't been there is Olivia's love for Peter. Well, other than the Hollywood Law of Proximity, where two leads in close contact connect, sort of like two magnets clicking together.

But her bad experience with trying to kill Daddy and her traitor boy friend should make her quite very leary of an office romance. Plus, it is not a bit obvious that Peter has the sort of personality that would endear him to her. Sister Rachel and Peter had more onscreen chemistry in my opinion.

So, to sell Peter's decision, they also have the instant discovery that Daddy Dearest planned to use Peter to destroy a universe. This makes Peter's decision a no brainer. This means the peak dramatic moment of the two parter is flatter than Kansas. I cannot figure out why any mad scientist worth his salt would build a weapon that only a kidnap victim who may have been brainwashed and is lost in another universe anyhow can use. That scheme is as convoluted as that last sentence!

Tat-Olivia should not be able to succeed for very long, because for one thing she won't know that Emolivia declared her recently conceived love for Peter just that day. But, then, it is not at all clear what she is expected to do anyhow. So if she fails to do it, Walternate is missing nothing except the one person who can win his war for him. Of course it makes sense that Tat-Olivia wasn't sent in to shoot the others and bring back Peter!

Average, for being such a wet firecracker. They really should have bitten the bullet and left Peter in the alternate universe and followed the adventures of their Fringe division. And we could focus on Tat-Olivia, who might have been given an interesting personality. Poor old Emolivia probably can't be made interesting anyhow.

Look on the bright side. Now she's got plenty of time to figure out how to cross over on her own.
And as soon as she does, she'll be fine.

Btw, WEISS could be German for WHITE.
It IS, actually.

Also, wasn't that bowling shaman's name Sam Weiss? I bet, he'd recognize the fake Liv in an instant.

Also, she's a firestarter, who hasn't started a fire recently :D. I think that may be her means of escape.
Do we know she's a firestarter, or was she just protecting herself from the other firestarter?

The video we saw in Jacksonville shows a scared "Olive" in a burnt out room save for her spot, and Walter stating how scared she was to have done that. Then an adult Olivia goes back to that spot to try and find the fear she needs to see objects from "over there".

Olivia is 'special', she has more than one ability (and probably why she handled all of Walter's drugs when she was trying to communicate with the dead John Scott).

What I thought was fun for the two parter was noting all the differences between our world and the alternate one. I don't mean the Pattern events like quarantined Boston but the smaller one as others have pointed out.

The ones that stick out for me are:
Portrait of an older JFK means either he survived 1963 or no attempt was made to kill him at that time.
Nixon's profile on the dollar coin meaning he is a better regarded president than in our world.
On the other hand Andrew Jackson isn't well regarded being that he's not on the 20 dollar bill. It could also mean he never became president and that could've been due to the War of 1812 having turned out better for the British as seen from the USA map that has the upper peninsula of Michigan missing.
The alternate DC covers, sure would love to read Man of Steel Returns!
The WTC still existing as well as the Grand Hotel being built.
I'm sure we'll see some more differences next season being that Olivia is trapped there.

Evil-liva (aka Tat-Olivia, Alt-Livia) will soften when she meets her sister and neice.

And discovers how readily available coffee is in this universe.

^ The British Empire and its commercial bodies had long laid claim to all lands north of the Columbia River, which includes much of modern-day Washington State. British maps in the first half of the 1800s show British Columbia extending down to Mexico or California (depending on who was currently in charge of the southern portion of the West Coast), while rival America maps would extend the Oregon Territory way north past Vancouver Island, until they finally settled on simply extending the 49th parallel boundary to the Pacific. Perhaps in this universe, the British were able to exert a stronger claim over the area (if, as suggested, they had a better showing in the War of 1812), but eventually conceeded the disputed area when, as in our universe, Anglo-Canadian colonization efforts paled before America's "Manifest Destiny"-driven westwards movement (or else that nutter Polk actually went to war over the issue in the other universe). By then, the area had been "British Columbia" so long that the name simply stuck.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman
