The Fringe team visits a widow who is connected to a mysterious event. Meanwhile, Peter and Olivia try to resolve the issues between them.

I really hope that tonight is better than the last two eps. Except for a few good tidbits (such as the Nina and Sam scene) the last few weeks have been kinda 'meh'.

After the last few episodes my interest in the series--which was lukewarm at best--has evaporated and with the description mentioning Peter/Olivia and their issues I'm not expecting a whole lot. I'm kinda at the point where I would like to hear it is cancelled so I can break free from it since knowing it won't ever have a fully satisfying resolution I won't feel compelled to tune into to see the mythology--and even if it got a full run it would probably end up with as much of a clusterfuck as LOST ultimately did.

Has there been any word yet at to whether or not it's been renewed for a fourth season? For that matter, when's the season finale scheduled for?

The problem with Fringe is that the only consistently good thing about the standalone episodes is Walter. For my part, the only good thing about the mythology episodes has been the Walter arc. I think most people agree even if they don't realize it. The only thing the mythology episode Peter added was the story of how Nina lost her arm, but it was widely and correctly regarded as the best of the series to date.

If they must have an arc, centering it on Walter (both versions,) is necessary. Which means
1.) orienting Peter to his family issues instead of the pathetic Olivia infatuation
2.) giving Peter a brain (if it still possible to make it plausible) so that the Walter arc has another player
3.) giving Astrid a personality
4.) bringing Peter's mother/Walter's "wife" on stage
5.) trying to retcon away that awful stupidity about First People and the million year plot.

"Well for starters Olivia, you could stop wearing your hair in that severe manner you seem to favor."

Man, I wouldn't feel safe in my home knowing Peter was around just waiting to smash through my door like kleenex.
