Noble was wonderfully manevolent in that scene.

Re: Fringe 4x08 - "Back to Where You've Never Been" (Discussion, Spoil

In the alternate universe in the original timeline, he got badly burned and had to spend time in a bacta-tank.

I really gotta watch this series again at some point, I've lost track of some things.

There's a lot to keep track of, that's for sure.

Yeah, these four (I guess it's four) alternate universes are getting hard to follow.

Re: Fringe 4x08 - "Back to Where You've Never Been" (Discussion, Spoil

He he, Alt Brandon is dead. Or a dead shapeshifter. Either way, no real loss.

Re: Fringe 4x08 - "Back to Where You've Never Been" (Discussion, Spoil

Noble and Jackson are so good in their scenes together. That was one of the best scenes tonight.

Re: Fringe 4x08 - "Back to Where You've Never Been" (Discussion, Spoil

I think this is the most intriguing I've found Walternate so far.

Re: Fringe 4x08 - "Back to Where You've Never Been" (Discussion, Spoil

And so ends the Fringe Fall Finale!

That scene with Olivia and the Observer was great, mirroring Peter's original encounter with September way back in Season One. And Jones is back!

Great stuff. I've got to decide now how to vote.

You were right Quo!

Yes! I just had a feeling once they brought out Walter's old machine and Peter mentioned killing somebody with it.

What could be awesome is if David Robert (?) Jones is behind the shapeshifters.

^

Well, that would be my guess; other than Belly, who is the most likely to have developed them?

Fringe is beginning to feel like Fringe again.

So that was the Fall finale, eh? Maybe I should thank The World Series for not making me wait 2 months to see the conclusion of this cliffhanger.

Re: Fringe 4x08 - "Back to Where You've Never Been" (Discussion, Spoil

A good episode to kick off the return of Fringe.

I like the reveal that the shapeshifters are an independent faction that is infilirating both sides. Maybe it will make Fringe Prime and Alt-Fringe fully put their differences aside when faced with this threat.

I think Nina is a shapeshifter and is messing with Olivia's mind for some reason that will be hopefully clear in the future.

I'm sorry that Peter isn't any closer to finding a way back to his own timeline but at least he has an ally in Walternate. The scene when Walternate said that Peter was exactly the type of man he thought he would become and the flicker of emotion in his eyes when he said it I felt was really touching.

When the Observer said that Olivia was destined to die in any possible future, it makes me recall that scene last season when Olivia casually mentioned to Peter after the LSD mind trip they went through that the man Peter was fighting with in Olivia's mind is the man that is going to kill her one day. Maybe Olivia's future death predicted by the Observer and the man in Olivia's mind are linked together.

Are they really going to kill off Olivia this season? If so, she is going back as a changed person like how Jean Grey came back as the Phoenix in X-Men?

Which ep was that Joe, do you recall? I'm finding I'm having a hard time recalling that.

Re: Fringe 4x08 - "Back to Where You've Never Been" (Discussion, Spoil

Let me count the universes, and someone correct me:

Alternate, where Peter was born and kidnapped from, where Walternate lives and where Fauxlivia had her kid, and where the White House was destroyed on 9/11 instead of the the WTC.

"Ours," where kidnapped Peter was raised, fell in love with Olivia and fathered a kid with Fauxlivia, where the WTC was destroyed on 9/11.

This new universe of "ours," where kidnapped Peter was brought to but created when he wasn't saved by the Observer, but where Peter currently is.

Is this it? Because Peter never grew up in Walternate's anyway, did that one get changed? Or by ours changing, did theirs change to create a fourth, or are there only the three listed above?

It was Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, Episode 19 of Season 3. And here's the scene between Olivia and Peter I was talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC_o0tVJtEQ.

I'm pretty sure that we have a 4th universe. The one we've been seeing this season where Broyles is alive and Walternate knows that his Peter died in, as you described, the new universe of "ours". Note the title of this episode.

BTW, the glyphs for this episode spelled out JONES. The episode before the break glyph was DAVID. This and the coming attractions confirm his return.

Re: Fringe 4x08 - "Back to Where You've Never Been" (Discussion, Spoil

Fantastic episode. With the return of David Jones, hopefully we'll get back to some of the basics (i.e. ZFT and the Pattern) while getting some answers (but of course with more questions).

I loved the alternate timeline alternate universe Elizabeth (say that five times fast) and I hope see her again. With this episode, we find out what happened to her in the two alternate timeline alternate universes and we of course know what happened to her in our timeline universe, but did we ever find out what happened to her in the our timeline alternate universe?

I have to say, I'm really glad we got this episode now. Can you imagine waiting two months after watching this?

No way! It was a great cliffhanger to be sure, but as Samurai noted, the winter break is only now a week.

;)

Thanks both Joe Washington for the link and to NCC1701MF for our weekly glyph translation.
