That was a great final scene. The question is, is there more than one Observer, or is the kid the young version of the one we keep seeing?
The CIA agent did say he thinks he found another one. Which would indicate they have others.

I want to find out more about his time in seclusion. That's just a little to fantastic to swallow. Who put him there, when, why, how was he to eventually escape?

I give this episode a Good.

An interesting Monster of the Week story with a little bit of an arc twist at the end. I'm looking forward to next week!

Dissapointment of the night: Finding out that the actress who plays Astrid is a lesbian. Thanks Quantum! :scream:

I'm going to assume that the kid is one of the people from the other universe, and that he might have just randomly popped in down there due to the damage in the barrier separating the two caused by teleportation experiments.

Excellent stuff. I think this one may be my in my top three of their episodes so far. I feel stupid for not figuring out that the kid was a young Observer.

Oh, by the way, a big fuck you to FOX for having Idol run over and thus fuck up my DVR. Luckily I just watch the show on delay and reset the DVR.

Anyone else expecting to catch at glimpse of the Observer here?

He should have been in the audience at American Idol.

Naw, wasn't worth his time!

:p

Not sure if this was a joke or not, but he WAS in the American Idol audience at the very beginning of the Idol episode. Fox has had him appearing at various events as part of the Fringe promotion machine. He's usually just edited in, but this time it appears he was really there.

you mean we have to actually rewatch/record Idol episodes to catch the observer? bleh

Fox did have the Observer appear at a New York Giants playoff game.

And then later a plane went down in the Hudson.

I'm going with this, it would explain how he ended up in an area that was completely sealed off.

Hey! These are my threads!

Sorry. I waited until the day of, I just thought no one remembered.

Anyway, this episode was excellent. Some great humorous bits with Walter and Peter's reactions to Walter, and I liked the bonding between Olivia and Observer Jr.

It was pretty foolish of Olivia to tell Charlie to open the back of the van and rush off after the killer without backup when there were other agents right there who could have checked it.

I wonder if the Observer's / kid's version of Earth(?) was destroyed in one of these wars between universes, thus requiring the survivors to move underground and gradually evolve or genetically modify themselves to survive there. Maybe they're observing until the moment they can interfere to prevent the destruction of our Earth, or they want to occupy our Earth after we're defeated by the other universe (or vice versa).

Anna Torv makes me want to have kids!

Meh, she doesn't do anything for me. She can quietly marry a cast member and it wouldn't phase me.

She's grown on me, I think she's even better in interviews when she's not being Olivia and has the Aussie accent.

I couldn't agree more... there's just something about her.. the way she carries herself or soemthing that is very appealing... she's not the typical beautiful hollywood actor type but she is REALLY hot somehow.. she just has "it" you know? Then add in an aussie accent in real life and you got an even more appealing woman.. female british and aussie accents get me every time lol..

BTW I thought I read soemthing where she was dating or married Mark Valley....

What happened in the ending?? Fucking american Idol ruined my TIVO and the last 10 minutes got cut off on my recording..

I thought they explained that in a recent episode.

When you cross over from one universe to the other via Walter's machine, you lose all your body hair. I imagine both the kid and the Observer are from the same universe, but somehow the kid got stuck in that tomb (an abandoned research lab?). The CIA guy also implied that the government has/found others, too, meaning quite a few are shifting over. Perhaps a mass exodus in the works due to a future disaster? Would explain why they'd send a child over.

Mine too. 8 minutes or so chopped off. But you can go over to the Fox Website and watch the last couple of minutes. It's easier to watch than explain, because some of what we see is open to interpretation.

I wonder if perhaps there are lots of little rooms like that one, sealed off many years ago and have their conditions set to that low oxygen level. Perhaps Jones used the tank after he used the machine in order to speed up the process that the child (and presumably the Observer and the others) went through in the cellar.

My tape cut off the ending as well (Eff you American Idol). The last thing I saw was Olivia with the sister and the kid, did anything happen after that? I didn't find this episode very interesting. It didn't occur to me that he was a child Observer but I was assuming he teleported into the sealed room from the parallel universe. So I guess that's the same thing.

^ You can go on Hulu or Fox and look at the final moments, but basically as the kid is being driven to his foster home, he senses something and looks out the window. The Observer is walking down the sidewalk and stops to look back at the kid.
