Franz Joseph Technical Manual---In Color?!?!

Albertese

I've been wanting to do this forever, and now, having burnt myself out on a different project, I decided to cleanse my palate with some quick and dirty photoshop. I've always had to imagine what would the black and white designs in the hallowed FJTM look like in actual living color...

IMAGINE NO LONGER!

I made a few color versions of some of the national emblems.

Like I said, quick and dirty, but I figured some of you might get a kick out of them.

I'm a little embarrassed at my attempt at "copper" on the last one... but, like I said.... quick and dirty.

Have fun!

Really cool. :techman:

Just FYI, clicking on each image takes you to the home page of postimage.org, and not to a larger version of the image as one might expect.

Nice work, Albertese. But FJ got the colors on the Fed pennant wrong. There's some yellow in there (the letters).

My brain read the thread title and immediately thought "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat."

Yeah, I scale the images down when I post them. Sorry if you were hoping for a big version.

I agree, but I'm going strictly with what FJ did. Personally, I think it looks better with yellow/gold in there, but that's not what FJ did.

Alien Pride. Or Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition. Or maybe Kermit's Rainbow Connection. ;)

Yeah, I guess the good people of Epsilon Indii are really into the visible spectrum.

According to Wikipedia, the first LGBT rainbow flag was flown in 1978. I wonder if the FJTM had been made after that, rather than three years before that, if this would be the same.

Either way, this is about colorizing the tech manual and I hope to leave the gender politics aside.

Everyone else, thanks, guys!

Funny theres nothing about K-7 in the that book.

I'm thinking about it....

Actually my real pipedream is to build a 1:1000 scale model of the interior of the SFHQ station...

I believe I have the required skills to do it, but that's a LOT of tiny trees to model... not to mention where would I put it when I was finished with it? A colored version of the plans in the book may just be as far as I can go with that idea...

As for the missing K-7; I always sort of assumed that since the book is the "Star Fleet" technical manual, maybe it only covers Star Fleet issue stuff, and, seeing as how K-7 was administered by a Mister Lurry, rather than a ranked officer, maybe it was a civilian station and therefore not inclusive of all things Star Fleet? Maybe?

Yeah, it was a weird oversight.

Thanks for looking, guys!

I will be watching this thread with great interest ;)

In all seriousness, I like the idea of continuing forward with FJ's work, and adding more dimensions to it, if only in color.

Keep up the good work!
