Maybe the Mirror Universe during this era will have an oversatutation of orange.
Or maybe it will just be The Orville universe.

I wouldn't mind a Mirror Universe story if they come up with something new and interesting to do with it, but if it's just an excuse for over-the-top skimpy outfits, torture, the crew becoming evil bisexuals (it's not a problem to be bisexual or gay/lesbian, but it's troublesome that it frequently coincides with becoming evil in MU stories), etc. then I can probably take a pass. Not that they can't be fun, but it's pretty old hat by this point.
The entire show is set in the Mirror universe. We (the audience) discover it in the "MU" episode where our characters travel to the regular Prime universe. That's when we'll see The Cage uniforms and TOS Klingons...

I don't think it would really need one. The mirror universe is already extraordinarily contrived as it required the outcome of Mirror Mirror to simultaneously change the political situation of the entire galaxy while still ensuring Sisko, Bashir and OBrien are all born essentially the same, although, naturally, eeeevil, and end up on the same Cardassian station as their prime counterparts. The whole contrivance is ridiculous, you can't play canon with the mirror universe.
Is there a video of this panel somewhere? Or at least an actual quote from Frakes? Perhaps he said it with that mischievous Riker-esque smile. 
Well, the Mirror Universe certainly is a story gimmick that worked exactly once and never really worked again, so of course Discovery is doing it and breaking continuity by having someone before Kirk meet the universe (at least Enterprise set its mediocre MU episode completely in that universe, so there was no issue of the normal universe meeting the MU too early).

The panel was Yesterday, if there is a recording it will pop up within the next few days.
It was hosted by Creation entertainment, and they're not a big fan of people recording their panels, so who knows.
Please, no more Mirror Universe stories. DS9 killed any further interest for me, although I did like Enterprise's "In a Mirror Darkly."
The only thing worse than another MU story would be the Borg showing up.

Ugh! My guess is that this will be one of the two episodes that were added. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the season finale cliffhanger.They had spilled the beans already, if you ask me.
Well from what I've read, the Klingon war arc will be wrapped up in the first season (thankfully) so the series finale would more than likely be a cliffhanger that sets up the season 2 arc. I just hope that we don't see an entire story arc based on the Mirror Universe.
Trek often shoots episodes out of order. For example, TNG episode in which Tasha Yar was killed off (Skin of Evil) was filmed before "Symbiosis" but aired afterwards. Most obvious is TOS episode "The Man Trap" which aired before "Where No Man Has Gone Before."
As to Mr. Frakes' comment:

The interesting thing also is: If you actually was the first 7 or so TOS season 1 episodes in production order unedited - they almost seem serialized, and you see character progression.
That said - with ST: D being fully serialized; no matter what order stuff was actually shot in; I can guarantee they'll be shown in whatever order the stiry arc requires.

In regards to you TOS example. The episodes weren't shot out of order - they were AIRED out of production order. And often for TOS (and "The Corbomite Maneuver" is a perfect example); often it was due to the time need to complete to VFX post production needed.

I like the Mirror Universe, but this does seem a bit early to do it, hopefully they'll do it towards the end of the season. The appeal of the MU is seeing alternate versions of familiar characters, but it won't have that appeal if we don't actually know the characters well before it.
The problem with the Mirror Universe episodes is that we really shouldn't see alternative versions of the same characters at all. Pick a starting point in the time line. Because of the differences, as time goes on, there will be so many changes that it's highly unlikely that the same characters will end up on the same ship experiencing similar situations as their prime counterparts. Granted, Discovery takes place before Kirk's encounter so we can let that slide, but by the time of DS9, I don't see how there would be any similarities at all between the MU and prime time lines. Sort of like a cosmic butterfly effect.
