Fox working to bring X-Men to TV

I bet they use a lot of Scarlet and Quicksilver just to make a point.

I'd really like to see Jubilee since she's hardly in the films at all.

Just thinking about the rumors of it being based on X-Factor, most of the X-Factor powers should work pretty well on tv I think.

Madrox should look fine. Strong Guy will be easy enough. Siryn shouldn't have any problems. Wolfsbane is the type of wolf we've been seeing on tv for ages. On the other hand, Polaris might require a more cinematic level of special effects if they use her though.

I haven't read any X-Factor comics yet, but the concept would work great as a TV show. Even if they don't go that route, there are plenty of characters from the franchise that would work on TV.
I've been reading the Jason Aaron run on Wolverine & The X-Men, and I could see something like that working on TV, although I don't know if they would be able to do those exact characters. Plus if we just follow a group of students at the Xavier school it would make it a lot easier to connect it to the movies, and we could possibly get occasional appearances from the movie cast members.

I'm not sure basing it at the school would work. Avoiding showing the movie cast would seem forced after a few episodes.

Muir Isle ?

One's a fresh 20-something Police Academy graduate who's never taken seriously because of her stunning looks, but who can see into the past. The other's a hotshot Iraq vet tormented by his wartime demons and faking an honorable discharge, who can smell better than any bloodhound. Together, they fight crime!

... I mean, I hope not, but if a series does happen, I suspect it'll be much closer to that than a live-action version of the 90s animated series...

I wonder if part of the negotiations involve Marvel wanting to allow some of its characters from the X-Men franchise to appear in the MCU, since I had heard at one point of them wanting to include Wolverine in an Avengers movie (with that Wolverine being a different Wolverine from Fox's movies), and use Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. As it is, right now, Neither Marvel or Fox are able to do the Wolverine vs. Hulk storyline in either movie series.

But it would be nice to see a X-Men show. Maybe they'll go for one set sometime in the 1970's or 80's, and use it to explain that time period, and bring in some of the other X-Men that have been at the school over the years, such as Dazzler.

I'm becoming more comfortable with the MCU and X-verse being apart, they just seem very different, despite coexisting in the comics. I'd prefer them to be together, the differences aren't insurmountable since the DOFP reset, but they are there. I'd still have liked all of the other Marvel characters back in the MCU, including Spidey and the FF.

If the negotiations for the rights to an X-Men TV show do allow an opportunity to push for crossovers, I suppose it could be accomplished without combining realities - dimensional travel, parallel timelines etc.

At one point there were somehow plans for Wolverine and Magneto to appear in the first Captain America film.

You know what I'd like to see? Joss whedon's fantastic "The Astonishing X-Men" comic series (the two years that ended with that character being send off to the great unknown) made it a mini series. That was good stuff.

Fox didn't actually have anything to do with Mutant X, and Fox actually filed a lawsuit against Marvel and whoever else produced the show.

That incident has led to this consensus:
Currently, neither Fox nor Marvel can make an X-Men live-action TV Show (the rights to make one is unclear). Fox will need Marvel's permission to make it. Right now, there are negotiations to do so, which has led to some intriguing discussions about what Marvel can get in return. I don't think the rights are as valuable as people think. My guess (if this goes anywhere) is it'll be something small, like an increased cut of the merchandising revenue. But it would be cool if Marvel could pry a couple of cosmic characters from Fox for their movies as well (I'd love the Infinity War movies to have Uatu the Watcher, also, maybe, the uncertain ones like Abigail Brand and SWORD can be clearly used).

Let's just make it a show about the Morlocks and be done with it. You can set it in the movie universe without ever leaving the sewer!

Of course it may be Fox wanting to copy Marvel's "Agents Of Shield" with a series set at the Xavier's school between the individual films of the original trilogy and the "Days Of Future Past" movie, with some of the unused or underused characters such as Rogue.

Although I am finding myself watching Agents of Shield only because it's set in the MCU (I think it's pretty poor) I absolutely would not want an X Men series that did not tie into the movie universe. I'm not watching Arrow, Flash and Co., and although I can't say for sure that I would if they were in the DCU (DC just doesn't interest me in the same way) it would be more likely.

There's so many parts of the X-verse that will never get screentime in the movies, a TV spinoff would be a great idea. A stand-alone show would be a hugely wasted opportunity...

a stand alone will be better. as much as I love the xmen films the films has just too many inconsistences for examples if it a spin off series based on the films then xmen most loved couple like rogue and gambit will never get togher. we wont have scott, jean, storm, wolverine in the tv show.

we wont have the Xavier and Magneto dynamic which is the heart of xmen.

this is why I would love a brand new xmen film series with the a list mutants.

the successful of heroes was solid proof a new xmen series could be done.

a spin of tv show based on the xmen film verse is not needed.

Fox aren't going to make a TV show using new versions of Magneto, Rogue, Gambit and Co. and risk damaging their cinema franchise. They'd use different (New) mutants...

it should not be a problem.

DC is has had two version of superman and two version of the flash. it should not be an issue.

Most fans I know think DC are making a mistake or looking foolish by having separate cinema and TV continuities, especially given the huge success of Marvels coherent universe.

I suppose Fox could go either way, but I'd think they'd look at the MCU and see how well that is going...

Or they could look to Sony and say "don't trust that lightning will strike in the same place twice."

They've already got the movies for them, so if they're smart they'd take advantage of the situation to explore new characters. But then again, this is Hollywood execs we're talking about, and "smart" isn't a word you hear associated with them very often.

Yeah, but Fox aren't stuck with one big character and....not much else.

They've got zillions of X-Men, the FF and associates, Deadpool and plenty of villains too.

Sounds interesting, lots of potential, a wide range of storytelling ideas could be employed...I'd watch this show. I'm always interested to see what Fox will cancel next.
