So Betsy Ross in her later years was an imposter, arranged by Washington to replace her so that nobody would know that she was missing in another dimension-- a friend of mine at ReNext actually predicted that. Good call on his part. :thumbsup:
And (somewhat unfortunately) I may have been right about them bringing Betsy Ross into the present timeline-- although that hasn't actually happened yet. But she did turn up alive. What's weird, though, is that time in the Catacombs moved faster for Abbie and it seems to have moved more slowly for Betsy-- unless she's been in a Rip-Van-Winkle state for about two thousand years.
Joe's death certainly took me by surprise. I was expecting a death, but I thought it would be either Reynolds or Foster-- since Reynolds and Abbie were hooking up, my money was on him. I also didn't see Daddy Mills status as one of the elder Corbin's agents coming. That will be something interesting to explore if we get another season.
This was a really good penultimate episode, exciting and surprising. And I loved Ichabod and Abbie's recreation of the crossing of the Delaware.

Of course, not everyone can adjust to a 240 year time jump like Crane did. If Betsy comes out of the catacombs and doesn't wither away in the light of day, here's to hoping she doesn't become another Katrina.

Not sure Betsy has room to talk, since shes dressed as a Colonial officer.
They also recreated the painting Washington Crossing the Delaware, down to the poses and costumes. With Betsy taking the place of James Monroe.
That doesn't make any sense at all. Why would she think her clothes were outlandish? Especially since, you know, she was a Colonial officer.
Women who dressed in men's clothing were considered outlandish at that time. Is Betsy an officer? That too would be unusual for the time period. Though, IIRC. there are records of women disguising themselves as men to fight the British. One of the figures in the painting Washington Crossing the Delaware" has been speculated to be a woman disguised as a man.
Of course my point is, Betsy wouldn't be shocked by the way Abbie is dressed.

Well, except that she's wearing clothes Betsy's never even seen before, which anyone from a time period such as hers would immediately notice (despite what Doctor Who would lead you to believe).
Psychic fabric.
Abbie is wearing trousers, a jacket and a shirt. Not too far removed from 18th Century fashions, Were not talking spandex, plastic or tin foil here.
Not really seeing the shock value.

This one was pretty good.
I loved Reynolds just showing up to help unannounced. I'm glad he's getting in on the monster fighting action. We also finally dealt with the fact that he's been spying on Abbie for his superiors, which they hadn't really done anything with in ages. I'm wondering if they are possibly setting up some kind of conspiracy or something that will be the new big bads next season.
I was pretty sure they'd end up bringing Betsy into the present, so I wasn't shocked she was in the Catacombs. Hopefully she'll work out better than Katrina did.
Abbie and Jenny's dad knowing all about the supernatural and being a friend of Corbin Sr. was a big surprise. I figured he's get dragged into all of the supernatural stuff eventually, but I didn't expect him to already know how to fight monsters. The scene with him and Jenny after she found out was kind of funny.
I don't mind Joe, but I'm not overly attached to him, so I wasn't to upset about his death, but at the same time I wouldn't mind if he was resurrected.
It was a little annoying that we spent all of the time setting up those ley line things, and then they didn't work. It made that whole chunk of the episode feel kind of pointless.

That explains the contradictory statements made by Ichabod. He said in one episode he never saw Betsy again before she set out on the mission with George Washington, and then later he said she came back a totally different person. The latter statement made more sense, since IRL Betsy Ross did not disappear.

Well, its not spandex but the blue jeans she's wearing weren't invented until 1871 and the zipper on Abbie's jacket wasn't invented until 116+ years after Betsy entered the catacombs.
Also, other than Grace Dixon, I can't recall another black female in this story, so to find Crane in the catacombs on a mission to rescue Betsy with this unknown sidekick must be quite disconcerting.
Now.. the idea of "psychic fabric" is one definitely worth investigating.
Yeah, I wondered how they might bring Betsy into the present timeline without messing up history. I thought they might have her appear as a ghost or something.
I suppose she could assume a new identity - Betty Ross.
