FOX: Sleepy Hollow - Season Discussion

Needless to say, she was letting that happen again, although I don't understand why she couldn't just throw that thing into the tree instead of carrying it into the depths.

My laptop behaved long enough to let me watch the last act on Hulu. What happened was, The Hidden One broke the containment unit thingie into pieces. Abbie held the pieces in her hands tightly enough that they drew the rest of the energy out of Jenny, but evidently she couldn't risk letting go, or the energy would be freed again. Presumably, even if she let go to throw the pieces, that split second would be enough to release the energy. So she had to keep a tight hold on the fragments all the way in.

The way this whole thing played out I'm thinking we're going to get some kind of a reset. Pretty much everybody except Ichabod appears to be dead.

Joe seemed to be still moving. Ichabod said "Oh my God" over an unmoving Jenny, though, which is inconclusive, but not promising.

I didn't see what happened to Pandora or The Hidden One, though.

Fortunately, we didn't see Betsy Ross either. I'm glad they didn't shoehorn her into the Paul Revere flashbacks. Although... oh, dear... could it be that Abbie will meet her in the Underworld and somehow bring Betsy back with her to the present-day land of the living? Sure, that would be Katrina all over again, but Abbie sacrificing herself and ending up in the realm of the dead has been done before too.

Ahhh, now THAT makes sense. Thanks!

Well, a lot certainly happened here. Abbie quit the FBI, although her resignation wasn't accepted-- that guy is definitely up to something (hopefully he's part of the X-Files and not a bad guy). Pandora's Box is destroyed, and Pandora and the Mummy God Guy are apparently gone. But Abbie blew herself up along with Yggdrasil. She can't be dead, so likely the second half of the season will involve saving her from the Underworld.

We got some nice flashbacks to the Revolution, as well, including a cool scene with Paul Revere where he mourned the loss of his apprentice. I like when they use little details like him being a silversmith. No Betsy Ross, though. I hope they haven't abandoned her.

When Sleepy Hollow returns in February, it will be in the Friday night death slot.

Here's Fox talking "up" the 3rd season of the show, but that may be propaganda to get someone to watch. I did like the fact that they are looking at "all platforms" when they are judging a show's impact, and not just "the Nielsen's".

Here are some season 3 spoilers.

I have little to no hope of a fourth season for Sleepy Hollow. I think it was kind of a miracle that we got a third season. Only two things are giving me hope: Scream Queens was renewed with similar ratings, and there are lower expectations for Friday night. So, fingers crossed. This is pretty much my favorite show on the air right now.

First trailer for the second half of the season.

"Kick some demon...."

I think Crane has been hanging around the Mills sisters too much.

The trailer looks good. Can't wait! :techman:

I'm afraid that may be true of a lot of people. The show's chances of survival are pretty hopeless as it is.

Scream Queens did worse but it got renewed so there's some hope of another season. Of course Fox was touting it be a social media hit rather than a ratings one. Not sure how Sleepy Hollow does social media wise.

Yeah, the Scream Queens renewal gave me a little hope, plus the fact that expectations are lower on Friday. But I'm pretty much expecting the sinking ship scenario, unfortunately.

This episode had me going. The whole thing felt like it was setting up Agent Foster as a replacement for Abbie -- rapidly bringing her in on the supernatural world, having her and Crane share a mystical calling that bonds them as partners, giving her a family-tragedy backstory to motivate a hunt for demons. On top of which, they drew a parallel between Abbie and Nathan Hale and had Ichabod decide to let her go. So I was all but convinced that they were dropping her from the show, until we got that last shot of Abbie in the underworld or wherever, and until I saw the preview featuring her heavily.

Still, it looks like it may take a while for her to get back. I wonder what Foster's role is actually supposed to be.

Nikki Reed is still terrible as Betsy Ross. If they're going to drop anyone from the show, it needs to be her, as soon as possible.

Good news: Ichabod's reference in the flashback to the myth of cats having nine lives is not an anachronism. The myth was mentioned by Shakespeare in Romeo and Juliet, so it was around long before Crane's day.

I loved tonight's ep. :luvlove:

It had a very real 1st season vibe, and I didn't worry they were getting ready to replace Abbie. If anything I felt like they were finally replacing Captain Irving.

Can't wait for the next ep.

Like Crane, I predict our Abbie will be kicking some demon A$$! :bolian:

Man, they better not replace Abbie. That would ruin it for me.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm wondering if Abbie will be aided by Betsy Ross in the underworld and then bring her back with her. It's kind of weird having a series regular who only appears in flashbacks.

I'm convinced I live in a Bizarro world. Episodes I like tend to be disliked by the masses around here, and ones I dislike tend to be greatly enjoyed.

For example, my attention kept wandering away during this episode, and I really like Betsy Ross's character and am hoping she makes it to the present. Though if she does they'll probably kill her off for the same reason they destroyed the library, considering she seems to know quite a bit about all things supernatural.

Betsy doesn't bother me at all, but neither am I living for her next appearance like I do with Abbie and Jenny.

I'd like her to "stay" in the past. One character displaced in time is enough for me.

I really enjoyed this one. My only issue is the flashback felt kind of unnecessary to me. It made sense in the end, but it still didn't really seem it needed to be there.
I really like Foster, I hope she sticks around once Abbie is back. I never thought they were going to be permanently replacing Abbie.
I don't mind Betsy Ross. I wouldn't really be upset if they got rid of her, but I'm not necessarily dying to see more of her. I would like it if they brought her forward to the present. It would be interesting to see what the other characters make of her, and it could be fun to see Ichabod teach somebody else about the present now. We did get a bit of that with Katrina, but that ended up not lasting very long.
