FOX: Sleepy Hollow - Season Discussion

Ah, well, it looks like Sleepy Hollow is truly doomed now, as if it wasn't before. It's still my favorite show, despite the narrative meandering in the second season. This season has been quite strong so far.

Come on people! The sooner we can get Sleepy Hollow cancelled, the better chance we have of getting Tom Mison a part on the new Star Trek show.
Only if he brings Nicole Beharie with him. And assuming the new Trek show is watchable.

Has another show crashed and burned as hard as Sleepy Hollow?
Twin Peaks springs to mind.

Okay, how about Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda? It started out as a very smart, well-written hard-SF show with enormous potential (though hampered by a tiny budget and a lack of talented prosthetic-makeup artists), and degenerated into one of the stupidest, most incoherent shows I've ever seen. Earth: Final Conflict before it had much the same degeneration, only more gradually.

Anyway, the point is, I think Sleepy Hollow's current season is a substantial improvement on the previous one. I could do without Betsy Ross, and the lack of a villain with personal stakes for the heroes is an issue, but it's more solid than it was last year (and best of all, no Hawley).

Those are two good examples, I agree that this season is much better then last season.

Someone has to say it so I guess it will be me...

HEROES!!!!

That is probably the best recent example.

Those are all good examples, and all worse than Sleepy Hollow. SH wasn't really that bad in season two. The story meandered, and they didn't seem to know what to do with either Irving or Katrina, but the main characters remained great and the individual episodes were still good.

He has to bring Nicole and his Trek uniform has to include a long waistcoat with lots of brass buttons and the preferred 24th cent hair style is "longish" ;)

Even Nicole would look good in that! :p

^^ Can't wait to see that.

I could go for that. If Worf can customize his uniform, anybody should be allowed to. :D

I want some guy whose uniform is completely covered in metal patches!

Sleepy Hollow has a new shorunner and it shows, the spark the series had in the last two seasons seems to be missing. But at least Mison is making Crane a less tragic figure and a more iconic one, he seems to be closer to Buck Roges now instead of Washinton Irving, Buck was able to get a handle on his new life just as Crane seems to be doing.

I've been enjoying this season quite a bit so far. It's still not quite as good as season one, but it's a big improvement over season two, and I like two a lot more than most people seem to.

Wow... Did anyone else have problems with the transmission on the climactic minutes of the episode? As soon as Joe's first flashbang went off, the screen went dark and I just got intermittent digital fragments of picture and sound for the rest of the episode. It's like the flashbang overloaded the software or something. And it wasn't my DVR to blame, since other channels were fine. I was able to get the gist of what happened in the final few minutes, but I missed a lot of detail. I saw that Abbie apparently sacrificed herself for Jenny, though I couldn't understand why.

And I wasn't surprised by Abbie's resignation from the FBI. I didn't think she could sustain the conflict between her FBI duties and her Witness duties indefinitely. Although that bit with Danny talking to his superiors suggests that he may turn out to have some connection to the supernatural arc after all.

No transmission issues here.

When Pandora confronted Abbie (in the parking lot at the FBI or in her lair?) she divined there was an issue that Abbie was hiding. That issue was that Abbie wasn't there for her sister when they first confronted monsters as a child and when Jennie tried to talk about that episode to other adults.

Basically Pandora accused / reminded Abbie that she had failed Jennie twice before.

Needless to say, she was letting that happen again, although I don't understand why she couldn't just throw that thing into the tree instead of carrying it into the depths.

Seeing Peter Mensah again reminded me how much I miss Doctore / Oenomaus.

Well, Abbie's in hell again. :brog:

Seriously, i didn't get why she couldn't have just thrown the thing.

The villain reminded me of Imhotep from The Mummy, especially when he siphoned the essence (or darkness) off of Jenny, and in the process, he gradually transformed more into a living being.

That was a great finale.
I didn't realize Peter Mensah was going to be the big bad. He was one of my favorite cast members on Spartacus, so I got a big kick out of seeing him here.
We got an interesting little hint that something is up with Reynolds. I wonder where that is going to lead. I hope he does know about the supernatural. I get tired of the characters constantly having to sneak around and lie.
The way this whole thing played out I'm thinking we're going to get some kind of a reset. Pretty much everybody except Ichabod appears to be dead.
