Yep, better movies make stuff like this worthwhile.
Somebody doesn't understand sarcasm.
None of the supposed "long term ramifications" really mean much to me as a consumer.

You cannot seriously be this out of touch with reality.

...if it comes out.I hope Dark Phoenix is a fitting last hurrah.
Yup.I loved Thor Ragnarok and thought Alien Covenant was a mediocre film at best. Most reviewers and the box office agreed with me on that.
Yeah, right, because they've been struggling so much...
Actually, the economic effect of monopolies or oligopolies is more mixed than people have thought historically. There are clearly problems for consumers, but it's not entirely bad for consumers. From a film perspective, the greater resources of Disney would allow it to take more risks/spend more on the big budget blockbusters. The concern is the trend that's been going for a long time related to smaller budgeted films. I think the alternative distribution models of things like Amazon or Netflix can help make up for that. This isn't a matter of opinion.
Monopolies lead to inferior products.
There's no reason for Disney not to release it. The film is completely made and would cause a loss of revenue if they didn't release it....if it comes out.

Yes, I was so excited to know that the Yankees would be in year after year....
Principal photography is complete, but the lengthy post production with the expensive effects isn't, nor have they incurred the massive publicity and advertising costs. There's no reason for Disney not to release it. It will....if it comes out.

You keep focusing so much on the X-Men movies, but they are a much much bigger company than that, and that is the problem. If this was just about the X-Men and Fantastic Four then everything would be great, but it's not.Well, as a fan of the X-Men comics I've been told to "suck it" for every non-Deadpool X-Men project post DOFP, not to mention every FF project outside of the 2005 film. If one group of fans is going to get screwed regardless, I'd prefer that my side gets what we want. In some areas of life that's a bad attitude, but its entertainment. I'm always going to be on the side that leads to more stuff I personally like, and since Disney is basically the exclusive group for that I'm going to want them to get the best deals. All FOX has done is screw up the X-Men franchise, cancel the few good TV shows they get and keep shitty things on the air literally decades past their expiration date.
If someone doesn't like the MCU, there is still the DCEU, it seems to be trying to get better. I'll also give the same (shitty) platitude everyone throws at me whenever I complain about stuff like this: The movies you like will always be there. Sure, you'll never get new stuff you like, but no one is going to drag Logan, Wolverine Origins or X3 out of your hands. That's not a very comforting thing to say, but I'll admit that after being told that about Star Trek approximately 5,000 times since 2009 I'm glad to finally be on the side that gets to say that to someone and not the side that has to hear it. Plus, hey, you never know what you could like. I loved Star Trek Beyond, even after disliking the other two reboot movies. Maybe the MCU makes X-Men movies that even older X-Men film fans will like. To be fair, I like a lot of the X-Men movies. But FOX just lost whatever ability they had to make good ones that aren't Deadpool, so I'm really glad to see proven people that put out work I enjoy get a shot.
Except FOX has put out maybe three good movies since 2010, and the worst of Disney is generally still ok.

New Mutants has also wrapped principal photography.

Just for reference, here are my favorite movies Fox has released since 1-1-2000:
Titan AE
X-Men series
Castaway
Moulin Rouge!
Minority Report
Star War prequels
Avatar
New Planet of the Apes movies
Maze Runner series
The Martian
Ok, so let's say Fox as you say has put out a lesser amount of good movies. There still might be good ideas in them that might provide another outlet for a company such as Disney to do even better. Inspiration might strike a studio from an unlkely source. Even at the worst, something is bound to provide inspiration that will often arise in something good.
Well, Disney already proved they do better star Wars then FOX.
