I'll be honest when I saw this on the BBC my immediate thought was that it was an April Fool but it seems to be genuine!

Sam Mendes is filing four films about the Fab Four which will be released in close proximity to each other in 2028.

Paul Mescal as Paul
Harris Dickinson as John
Joseph Quinn as George
Barry Keoghan as Ringo

Gotta say that's way better casting than The Devil's Chord at least ;)

I have mixed feelings about Beatles bio pics as I'm a Beatlemaniac and think they rarely get things right.
Often enough there's dodgy scouse accents, bogus facts and misinformation. John punching Paul for example in Nowhere Boy.
If you really want the Beatles story there's some great documentaries out there.
Or if you're lucky enough like myself to live not far from Liverpool, it's 3 hours car ride for me, there some great museums, venues and tours..

That movie was an absolute travesty. It completely shit all over the life and legacy of Dewey Cox.
Say what you will about the script but John C. Reilly was born to play Dewey. The cut at the end from "movie" Dewey (Reilly) to the actual Dewey was amazing in terms of how much alike the two men looked.

I went to the Beatles Story museum a few years before the pandemic and that was great
I enjoyed the Beatles story museum.
But I get a kick out of going the cavern club more. I know it’s not the same as it was in the 60’s as it was collapsed and rebuilt but it’s got a good vibe and live music all day. I was in the cavern and it was the anniversary of George Harrison’s death, so it was all George songs, which was really nice and touching. The singer on acoustic guitar was asking the audience to call out their favourite songs to play. I yelled he should play my sweet lord and bless him he did. The entire venue was singing their hearts out.

Done the magical mystery tour many times. Once did a taxi tour with a group of friends, which was better than the bus tour as we were able to get to the locations better.

We saw the outside of the Cavern Club (and Cilla's statue!)

I can't recall if it was closed or whether we just didn't have the time?
Fair enough. If you ever visit Liverpool again I highly recommend it. Just bear in mind it gets busy in there lol.
There’s a few other pubs with Beatles connections. I have a really good tour book I carry when I go. Think I’m due a visit. Last time I was there I splurged on the Beatles themed hotel. Definitely beats the Adelphi Hotel, which has a bit of a reputation haha

To be honest, the cast don't look like such good picks to play the parts, but maybe that will change when seeing the actual movie.

If these movies are hits, they'll expand the Beatles cinematic universe by announcing movies for Sutcliffe, Best and Ono.

I'd rather have that cgi Yellow Submarine Film they was going to make a few years back lol

I'm really having a hard time seeing what the point of these movies are. The Beatles lives are pretty well documented in books/television/film. What more are we expected to learn?
