Formula One 2011

Absolutely phenomal race! Terrible start, horribly long red flag, but it was worth the wait. The most exciting race in years!

This one will be remembered as "The 24 Hours of Montreal" :) in 20 years of F1 I don't think I've ever seen anyone ever win from the back like that. Just spectacular work by Jensen. I thought it would be another Vettel snooze-fest. That'll teach me to give up on a race too soon. Great effort by Schumi, too. I thought for awhile he might steal the show.

Well when it finally got going we had a great race. I wonder if Horner in retorspect would have taken half points if the race had been called off during the red flag period?

Well, they ended up with more points, for having both Vettel and webber on the podium, than they would if they'd got half points with Vettel 1st and Webber back in 6th or 7th.

It was a great finish after all the crap - and nice to see a race won in the last lap, rather than in Q3 the previous day, or having it handed to them by a red flag...

I really felt bad for Schumi though - he deserved a podium yesterday... For old times' sake.

I doubt any of them would've wanted to call it off. If they'd rather win points for nothing than go racing, they should quit their jobs and let somebody who actually cares about the sport take their place.

He really did. But once the track was dry, he had no chance against a McLaren or a Red Bull. I was surprised to see him still clinging onto Webber when they crossed the line.

Anyway, I think the last 3 races he can be much prouder of his racing, even if the results haven't been as good as he would have hoped.

we could call the championship now, seriously. Vettel's not going to be beaten from here with a 77 point lead unless he doesn't win another race *and* fails to make the points four times...

Interestingly, all 24 drivers have been classified as having finished this race - the most number of cars to ever finish a Grand Prix - with no retirements or (so far) disqualifications. There have only been three previous occasions where all the cars starting the race then finished the race (one of which was the farcical 2005 United States GP where only six cars actually started).

All fascinating stuff:

Fascinatingly, the previous race in Canada is mentioned as the longest F1 race in terms of lights-to-flag time elapsed, the slowest in terms of average race speed, and the race with the most safety cars.

It was a rather boring race. No exciting passings or pit stops. At least nobody got hurt...and Vettel won. I know, it's my hormones talking, but he is really cute:hugegrin:
