Formula One 2011

So the Bahrain GP's being squeezed into the calendar... I'm in two minds: It's a bad decision, overloads the calendar, and makes India look second-class by being moved. Having said that, since the Bahraini opposition and protesters are actually in favour of the race, maybe there's cause to go along with it. Though it'd be intriguing to see what what would happen if *all* the teams refused to show up.

I think they may have to revise the rukes regarding what work can and cannot be done during the period between the red flag and restart procedure. If we are going to allow work to be done on a car, it must only to be essential mainteance. i.e Lewis's McLaren which had clear damage, a Tyre change should only be permitted in the case of a move from dry to inters/wets. As for the reverse if cchanges from a wet to a dry race, then wet tyres can be used until they come in and change them. Should make it interesting.

As for penalites handed out to Lewis, the first one they had to do because they gave Di Resta one for a smiliar move at the same corner. Whether it was the right decision or not is another matter as Schumcher passed Hamilition without incident at that corner. And Lewis passed Massa at the same corner he come togther with Maldonado. So both corners had previoulsy been used as overtaking points . So on one hand we have we want to see overtaking in F1 and on the other hand we have we're going to penalise you for attempting to overtake and having an incident with another car . (despite evideance that overtaking is possible there)

Anyone seen the Senna movie yet? What did you think of it? I'm seeing it later in the week :)

And it's off again. Apparently Ecclestone didn't realise he can't alter the schedule without written permission from the teams, who have obviously refused said permission.

Just reading about it being off again, no wonder they can't sort out rules in a race if they can't even follow the rules themselves.

He must have wanted to make sure that his name joined the long list of other world champions that have left their name on it. ;)

But he's tainted the wall! It's going to take them forever to scrub his smugness off of it.

Looks like it might be a wet race in Canada, the question now becomes how well set-up are the cars for a wet race. Pit lane rumour has it that MacLaren ran a setup that favoured a wet race during qualifing yesterday.

I like a bit of rain, not when it stops the race entirely though. This is going to be a long one.

Boring boring boring. Like 15 laps of safety car and now a red flag? It's health and safety gone mad! In the 50s and 60s they would have kept on going until every last car had gone off.

Yeah, it's all good fun and games until someone dies needlessly.

Personally, I'm happy that the drivers think of their own wellbeing and the safety of others first and foremost.

Well, if anyone would have said that the BBC would be interviewing George Lucas in the McLaren garage today I would have called them daft. But here we are...

^^ They get all sorts in Formula 1. I remember once Michael Douglas presented the 3rd place driver trophy at (I think) an Austrian Grand Prix several years ago.

And who could forget Pele totally cocking up the chequered flag in Brazil?
