"Forged in Fire" in stores!

Dropped into the book store today to pick up an Xmas present and was pleased to see that Star Trek Excelsior - Forged in Fire was on the shelves. Naturally, I bought that too, and can't wait to dive in. :D

Anyone else see it and buy it yet?

Sweet. I'll keep my eyes out for it.

My stupid bookstore still hasn't gotten Before Dishonor, which is baffling considering they were ahead of the game with both Resistance and Q&A. :scream:

Sweet! I'll have to start checking Bordersstores.com until the local store gets it in.

^Why so late? It's a January release so it should actually be popping into most about now, (which it apparently is)because most books come out about midway through the month before it's "release month" .

I had heard it was a Febuary release, which is why I was expecting the end of January.

No, Forged in Fire is the January book. The February book is Klingon Empire: A Burning House by some hack with two initials.... :klingon:

I saw on the Borders site that the book is 512 pages long. If accurate, that would make it the longest Trek novel since Crucible: McCoy by page count and maybe by word count, too. Of course, length has no bearing on quality, but I find details like that fascinating.

Do you mean the hack with two middle names who commonly uses the two initials of said middle names when he gives his first and last name but is often referred to simply by all four of his initials which just happen to make a Klingonesque name by themselves?

And, d'oh! I just went to the bookstore and grabbed Creative Couplings and didn't even think to check for Forged in Fire. :brickwall:

I didn't expect this for another week at least. It wasn't at the store today.

Amazon says something a little shorter, but wow that's still much longer than I would have thought. Sounds epic.

I thought it had a little bit of extra heft to it. Sweet!

It has one blazin' cover too and appears almost aglow on my shelf. And judging by the promo on the inside back cover, the cover for that R.A. guy's A Burning House looks like it'll be a stunner in person too. :D

I am really looking forward to this book. I look forward to reading some more Captain Sulu adventures. I will probably buy it long before I finish the next few books on my list because they have more copies to choose from when it first comes out. Am I the only one here who looks through several books to find one that looks just perfect? I am a bit anal retentive that way. And then then the check out people bend the cover way open to scan the bar code inside..... I'm pathetic lol

I do that as well. I even do it with magazines. My mother does it too.

I do it with lots of things. when I buy a book at Sams Club or Costco after I pick out a really nice copy I have to go back by the meat and get a bag. Those conveyor belts have all sorts of frozen stuff getting them wet all the time.
