"Forged in Fire" in stores!

Am I the only one here who looks through several books to find one that looks just perfect?

No, I do that too.

In fact, I didn't buy any of the five copies of Creative Couplings that I saw at Barnes & Noble the other day because all of the spines were scuffed up and scratched.

That's been happening more lately with the Trek books in my area. It's like the spines have chipped much more easily.

I passed on a Copy of The New TNG collection "Sky's the Limit" at Borders the other day because it has some kind of clear glue-like stuff on the spine. They didn't have a copy at borders express today when I got The New Titan book.

The glue usually picks off okay. It sticks to some ink colours though. Dark blue was notorious.

Galaxy Bookshop put my copy aside for me these days, because a few times they've sold out in one day, but they are used to me checking the shelves to swap for a better copy when there's plenty in stock. I like no chips on the spine, and the spine title to be well centred.

These days, I often have to riffle to check for internal creases, too. Quality control is not what it used to be at Pocket. ;)

Sweet. I'll keep my eyes out for it.

My stupid bookstore still hasn't gotten Before Dishonor, which is baffling considering they were ahead of the game with both Resistance and Q&A. :scream:

I'm sorry but that gave me a little giggle. Normally on this side of the Atlantic we have to wait a month for books but I've bought and read BD and finished another book and you are still waiting for the book.

Anybody seen it anywhere in the New York area?

Try the B and N on 5th Avenue Clay. If that doesn't work, check the Borders by MSG or down by the Wall Street area. Oh you can also try Penn Books..

But if your in Bklyn, you can also try the Barnes and Noble down by Court Street or somewhere near the courts.

Would it be faster to order it from Amazon than to hunt for it in stores?

Depends on how bad you need it. Amazon says that the book isn't shipping until the 18th so if you ahve the time, try looking around bookstores in your area.

A quick check at Bordersstores.com shows they're still listing the book as "Not Yet Published," and all of the New York Borders locations are showing the status as "Pre-Order" only. I will definitely check the B&N locations you mentioned, though - thanks a lot!

Yeah for some reason, Borders has been real slow lately with getting new stuff in. Don't know if it's just with Trek or what but I'm not sure they are reliable anymore because I pre ordered Before Dishonor for them and 3 weeks later they called me telling me it was in after I already got it 2 weeks earlier from someplace else.

You can also try Penn Books which is inside Penn Station ( the LIRR part). Waldenbooks might have it but I'm not sure where they are. They shut down the one in Kings plaza damn them... And not all stores might have it. One BN might while another might.

Either way, your welcome and good luck.

I tend to be a perfectionist with my books too. Especially after I bought Warpath when it came out, because I got it the first day and just grabbed the first copy I saw, not realize it had dozens of tiny little nicks on the entire cover, front, spine and back. I thought I could deal with it when I noticed it going up to the cash register, but since then it has driven me insane every time I look at it. I really wish I hadn't be so anxious to get it started, and had actually thought about how OCD I am when it comes to books.

I order Forged in Fire from Amazon.com last Thursday and it came in the Mail this aftrernoon. I can hardly believe it came today.I'll start reading it tomorrow when i have time.

UPS delivered mine to a different address. They will attempt to recover the parcel tomorrow and redeliver by Wednesday or Thursday.

While out Christmas shopping at the mall today, I wandered into the book store, and to my surprise I saw "Forged in Fire". At long last it is finally here. Is it wrong to buy a present for myself?

I have been looking since monday at both Barnes and Noble and also Borders, and didn't see the book at all. Normally after someone has posted on here seeing it, I normally see it in my area. Kind of sucks.
