Alien invader: That's it find the bridge and take over this vessel!
Alien redshirt: (stumbles into the broom closet) : Can't find the bridge!
Alien invader: What do you mean? Earthlings aways have a bridge somewhere inside or on top of those ridicilous saucers!
Alien redshirt: But.. this one has four saucers..

;)

Maybe on the old warp scale.
I envision these vessels as a recreational, hospital, rehabilitation, evacuation vessels... even a few serve as concert halls and venues for theatre arts.

pfff...lol
Beats out the Phlosten Paradise resort ship.

'Twas but a Spinal Tap reference I was making. :)

So, the Morrigi joined the Federation? Or at least some of them.
Poor Atreus must be spinning in his grave fast enough to power a Starship!
Uh, who? And what? I am sorry, but I do not understand the reference.

Note: Please everyone, if you are going to reference something, please cite the reference... Please do not assume everyone knows what you are referring to. Thanks, greatly.

Ah, pity.
Short version is: minorly psychic bird noodle dragons whole have been spacefaring long enough it is evolutionally apparent. Their larger ships look A LOT like that one, to the point it didn't seem coincidence:
morrigi_dn.jpg

(It's a bit hard to see at this angle, but the main hull is bow-shaped and the wingy bits extend fairly far past its trailing edge.)

They're fun and would absolutely fit as a Trek two-parter for Picard to make common cause with "why can't we all just get along" Tokhata the Just in overthrowing the aptly named Atreus the Bloody (whose political platform is basically "only we get to be spacefaring, if you don't like it, we just kill you" and predictably made exactly zero friends.)
When not being led by a genocidal maniac, the Morrigi are exactly the sort of folks who would think the Federation a darn swell idea, so I figured the reference deliberate.
(Edit: they're also exactly the sort of folks who would build a ship dedicated to doing events and other Culture Stuff, with extra uses for other civil utilities; being Very Cultured (especially with novel culture, which the Federation would provide a bounty of) is one of the ways to impress the ladies in their own culture.)

Thanks for the insight. I have not gamed in decades (I'm a lot older than most people think).
I do not see the similarity, but if you do, I cannot help that, as that is what you see. ;)
I actually was inspired by Tree Fungi, which stacks in levels. If you guys ever need a great Starbase inspiration, look to Fungi colonies...
