For Gallifrey!!!

First, SJA quotes don't count.

Then, we don't know how/why regeneration works. Is the look you get dependent on genetics? environment? ancestors?

Considering there is no real consistency among the various incarnations of the Doctor and the Master, I don't think there are any pre-existing conditions which determine how a Time Lord's new appearance will be following a regeneration. And furthermore, skin colour isn't exactly uniformly black and white. Some white people have darker skin than other white people, and some black people have lighter skin than other black people. There are so many variations of skin colour within the types classified as "black" and "white" that it kind of makes little sense to dwell on colour any further than if you had to make a description of a person and you wanted details as full as possible.

If the Doctor became a black person, I would see nothing wrong with that and would not consider it a violation of anything previously established. Hell, both the Ninth and Eleventh Doctor's have implied that regeneration can result with a body looking completely different than the standard human/Gallifreyan norm. If it's possible for a Time Lord to regenerate into a body with two heads or none, then it's possible for a Time Lord's skin to change colour.

I agree. I just don't get where 9 (or 10) can say they may pop back with 2 heads or no heads or whatever. Every time lord we've seen has been more or less humanoid (like us).

As for SJA, I have no problem with it YET. Unless or until it contradicts Moffats' DW (or whoever is running the show if it does).

As I understand it, the Second Doctor is shown a series of visages from which he may choose for his Third incarnation before being "executed" by the Time Lords. One option is a black man, which he rejects only for being "too chubby," not for being an impossibility.

I'd be for a black Doctor, but one thing that I find odd is that according to demographics the UK is far whiter than my own home of Oregon, yet to watch a show on the Beeb it seems that only roughly half of all UK citizens are white. I understand inclusion, but it seems that misrepresenting demographics is pandering or trying to "over-correct" a situation. It's especially jarring in historical shows.

I feel that at this point in time if they cast a black Doctor it would only be to seem progressive, rather than just to cast the best available actor. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing maybe Idris Elba as the Doctor.

Simm's Master I feel was poorly written and directed, not poorly acted. Simm has stated his desire to return, but only to film a regeneration scene. I'd support that. My ideal next Master could be Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman (although maybe too similar to Simm), David Bowie, Jonathan Pryce or Alan Rickman.

Ooooh, Alan Rickman could be such an awesome Master

I'd love to see The Master with a little Snape in him.

I'm assuming that's a Harry Potter reference? I don't know anything about that, but by Grabthar's Hammer, the Master shall rule!

Forget the timelords, I just want to see more of the inside of the TARDIS. We saw way more of the inside in the classic series, hallways, rooms, swimming pool, even bricked warehouse sized areas, heh. Come on, show us more of the TARDIS in the new series.

Amen! I've been dying to see more of the inside of the TARDIS. Growing up, one of my fondest memories of Doctor Who was The Doctor and Leela wandering the "warehouse" corridors in The Invasion of Time.

I remember there being a rumor about a bottle episode for season 5 where we would see more of the TARDIS interior but that didn't materialize. I can only hope that some day soon that'll change...

I'm sure we'll see more of the rooms in the Tardis once stories are written that require them to be shown. Otherwise it doesn't really bother me one way or another, we know they're there and that's enough for me.

Well watching him in Primevel has reminded me what a great Master Alexander Siddig would make...Rickman would be great, but I doubt it'd be possible outside of a Jacobi style one off.

I don't care who Siddig plays (The Master, The Doctor, The Grand Poof of Other Worlds), he simply needs to appear on Doctor Who, although he has been on my short list for The Doctor for years now.

I'm always wanting to see more rooms of the Tardis. "Invasion of Time" was actually my all time favorite episode as a kid I thought it was so cool how they were running around in these infinite rooms in the Tardis hiding from the Sontarans.

God, I hope Rickman really does show up as a character called the Grand Poof of Other Worlds.

I remember something in Doctor Who Magazine once about the possibility of seeing more of the TARDIS in the then-upcoming season. What we got was Frontios.

What about Richard Armitage as the master?? Sure he was a little campy in that Robin Hood show, but so was the old master:shrug:

I'll be honest, I have no idea where that name came from. I needed something completely absurd to end the list with and that was the first thing that came to mind.
