Food poisoning! Yay!

Does food poisoning suck or what? I went to bed Tuesday night feeling great, and then I woke up 3 hours later with extreme stomach pain. I then found myself playing the vomit and diarrhea game for the next day and half. I called in sick to work, which really bothers me because I've only been at this new job for 3 weeks. It's been 5 years since the last time I was sick enough to call in to work, so doing it now with a brand new job really annoyed me.

And now, 2 days later, I feel perfectly fine. I'm just really weak from not having eaten since Tuesday. On the plus side, I used this time to watch a lot of Babylon 5.

Glad you're feeling better. :) Last time I had food poisoning was about 25 years ago. I collapsed in the street and got taken home by a policeman. With hindsight he should probably have taken me to hospital!

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I had it bad a few weeks ago. I've never spent so much time in the bathroom and in great pain!

Oh I feel with you. Had it once, while being abroad, after eating a chocolate bar (two friends had it too, they ate chocolate bars from the same package...). It was a horrible night. I was sure I would not survive it...so terrible I felt. Though I am always sure I will not survive it, when I catch something that involves nights in the bathroom. ;)
Glad you are better again!

I'm sorry to hear about this - I had my first food poisoning a few weeks back (I posted a thread about it, too ) and it certainly isn't nice. I hope you regain your strength quickly, and that you haven't lost weight or anything.

What is especially annoying about it is that earlier that night, before going to bed, I had a gone to the gym and did a heavy chest workout followed by about 2 hours of racquetball. I really could have used the last two days to eat and help my muscles recover. Right now, I feel like I'm worse than when I started.

The rapidity of onset is something truly awful. And it saps the strength like nothing else. The last time I had it was about 18 months ago. On the first day I was so exhausted, I could barely do anything but sleep and throw up. Thankfully, I managed to maintain adequat geographical separation between the two activities...

While the D&V subsided within under 36hrs, it took several days to regain full strength. Hope you feel better soon RoJo

Thankfully, I will only have to go into work tomorrow, and then I'll have the weekend off to recover completely. While the worst is over, I'm still having a rough time eating solid food. My body is all out of whack.

food poisoning is absolutely vile. The worst I ever had was when I ate 2 bites of cole slaw at a Long John Silvers. The first bite was "Did that taste off?" and the second one was "yep! Way off." Then in the middle of the night I woke up with knives in my gut and fluids forcefully exiting orifices. the worst thing was, we were in northern Virginia and had to drive back to NC.
Cannot face cole slaw at all anymore.

You have my sympathy. I had that last December. The mess was bad, but the clean-up was worse. The mess lasted three days. The clean-up, five.

On my plus side, I spent the time watching all 11 Star Trek movies--allowing for unpleasant interruptions for bathroom trips.

Trust me, if you are disabled, as I am, and already have a hard time standing up, food poisoning just adds to the fun (sarcasm).

Food poisoning is the shits.
