We know that the original concept for the Conspiracy arc eventually morphed into the Borg storyline. However since the two ideas don't really match up, I'm wondering if any of the novels ever followed up with that plot?

I haven't read it yet, but I believe that the Parasites also appeared in a TNG comic (or comic arc), which is inconsistent with the DS9 arc.

Yeah, that was DC's TNG Annual #3, "The Broken Moon." I don't recall what the inconsistencies are, though.
The return of the Parasites in DS9 is one of my favorite things in Trek literature.
The stuff with the parasites was one of my favorite elements of the DS9 Relaunch, along with the Andorian story arc.
Oh, I could have sworn this had come up in the past and someone mentioned it being inconsistent with the DS9 story.I haven't read it yet, but I believe that the Parasites also appeared in a TNG comic (or comic arc), which is inconsistent with the DS9 arc.

I don't think that there are any inconsistencies between "The Broken Moon" and the development of the parasites a decade later in the DS9 relaunch series, although the stories obviously had independent geneses. So the parasites infiltrated a state neighbouring the Federation before they went on to try to take over Bajor, so what?
