~puts on flak jacket before saying this~
I've found that my level of interest in a given series (any series, not just 'Trek) is directly proportional to the level of contact I have with the its fans. The more contact I have with a dedicated rabid fanbase that nitpicks and demonizes anything that is flowing glowing gushes of praise for their favorite series, the less I'm inclined to maintain either prolonged or high interest in said series.
Sometimes we, as fans, can be our own worse enemies, in terms of helping our fave shows survive/thrive.
Preach it.
(You might want to also CC it to the Browncoats.

I don't get why some fans think it's such a terribly big deal that not everyone thinks "their" show is the Greatest Thing Ever. For me, all the gushing has the exact opposite effect to what such fans (apparently) intend. They're TV shows, not matters of life and death, and giving the impression -- as some fans seem to do - that a TV show is the only thing in one's life that matters isn't a good thing.
