I went to my first Trek convention on April 7th, 1990 and George Takei was the guest.
It was a convention known as "Trek Fest".
I went to a few cons under the "Trek Fest" name in the years after and met James Doohan, Rene Auberjoinis, and Michael Dorn.
There was a Jonathan Frakes con too, but he didn't do an autograph or photo session.
In 1995, I also went to a "Vulkon" convention in Boca Raton and met Walter Koenig. This was a different convention company. I guess this was one of the few times they went into South Florida because after this it always seemed like their conventions were in Central Florida, which was WAY out of the way, or out of state.
"Trek Fest" apparently shut down sometime in the mid-90s and the "Vulkon" conventions were always at least 5 hours or so away and had a hard time justifying the cost (I was a college student) of driving, hotel, convention costs, etc.
So I never went to another convention again until I found out about Florida Supercon in Miami back in 2009.
Did anyone here ever to some of those Florida conventions?
