Flash Forward (Braga's new show)

I recognize the need to expand the cast as part of retooling it for television, but cutting the scientists out altogether in favour of network stereotypes rubs me the wrong way.
It really did feel like a waste taking this unique premise and using it for a boring 24-esque terrorist plot. Hopefully the full episode brings something to the other characters because nothing I've seen so far is interesting.

They changed the time frame-and that will affect the impact of the story greatly. 6 months instead of 21 years. Big diff!

Because the show won't be on in 21 years, it won't be on the air in 6 months.

The show is meant to have some answers by May 2010, if it gets picked up for a full season and that's a huge if. However the main mystery of why the flash forward happened most likely won't ever be answered.

To me this would be better at a British series. 13 episodes and you know everythnig you need to.

Uh, most British series are just a six episode order (Spooks went to ten episode orders from its second series on, a relative aboration in British television). Still, it's a fair point. The British serial State of Play was incredible, but I would be hard pressed to see it work as a continuing series (though I haven't seen the American feature film remake, I don't expect it to work as well in that format, either).

I like David Simon's plan for The Wire. Ideas for five seasons, but each year is (more or less) a self-contained narrative that could serve as a proper end to the series if need be. But HBO offered a somewhat unique environment for that kind of storytelling. That just doesn't work on network television. Think of Prison Break, a planned two season series that was extended to four painfully thin seasons.
