Fix Trek cringe with this one easy step

Obviously we need a story where hippie angels hire lawyer angels (only to be defeated by Sam Cogley).
On it
Hail, hail, fire and snow. Call the angel, we will go. Far away, for to see, friendly Angel come to me. Hail, hail, fire and snow. Call the angel, we will go. Far away, for to see, friendly Angel come to me.

Discovery seasons 4 and 5: Move the group therapy sessions to outside the time sensitive missions or currently occuring disasters. That time those ice monsters just stopped so Tilly could give her cadets a pep talk had me yelling at the screen. Ditto the penultimate episode when Michael and Book decided their undercover mission was the perfect time for a heart to heart. It was infuriating.

There was a lot of Troi cringe in EaF. And maybe Troi could have toned down the emotion in her voice a bit. But what she said was Ok.

Of course, she didn't really need to say anything at that point. The star jellies reunion scene said it all.
Well, that's the gist of my comment. My modification makes her say essentially the same thing (no problem there), just with her being less overwhelmed by it.

Generally I think the empath shtick works better with her sensing the emotions but still be (somewhat) detached - those aren't her emotions after all.

(I'll make some allowances for the fact that they still had to establish the character this early in the series.)

And Troi stating the obvious was ....well, not entirely unique to the pilot episode.

Every instance of Picard crying.

Patrick Stewart seems to love crying, and he performs very well, but Captain Picard shouldn't

I can't possibly like this post enough, especially the bolded part of your quote. This brought the entire series down so badly.

Change one cringeworthy thing... DS9's "THE RECKONING". As soon as Sisko sees Jake is possessed by the pah-wraith, he gives the order to use the chroniton burst to get them out of Jake and Kira. Him allowing this to happen to his son was such a betrayal of everything we have seen of him as a father. Take this out, and this episode moves from worst of the entire series.

I have no issue with Picard crying - he's no crybaby in general.
(Even though perhaps there were a few instances where it would have been better without crying).

"And the Children..." - focus in on one child character instead of multiple children. More character development that way.

Has Treklit ever successfully rehabbed a cringe moment or episode?

Have Doctor Bashir refuse to ERASE KURN'S PERSONALITY FOREVER!

I don't know how to end that episode in a satisfying way, but that was not it. DS9 often did well with "no right answer" situations, but that one was a fumble.
